This week …………. I love the 2010’s!

Series 1 – 2010’s E10#

Down Memory Lane Series 1 – 09/12/2021 – 10# – I Love the 2010’s
Between 2010 – 2019, l didn’t listen to that much new music. I was living in a caravan from 2009 – 2012, and the music l heard at that point was mostly on TV or through YouTube via my computer. Realistically l started to listen to music more from around 2015. I preferred to listen to the music genres that l liked, and most of that was older music, yet having said that, l wasn’t utterly clueless to this decade. I DID happen to note quite a few songs, artists, groups, and bands that l liked, and quite a few are below.

What has stood out to me of significance in the years between 2010 – 2019, however, has been the likes of the Trump administration, the arrival of the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, Brexit and everything that danced with that, the Haiti earthquake, hurricanes aplenty as well as the world started to Think Green properly especially given the rise of climate problems the world was experiencing. The high elevation of terrorism and mass shootings, the advances in the rights of the LGBTQ and the #Metoo movements, and same-sex marriages.

The world suddenly became more of a Streaming culture with music, and the terminology ‘Going Viral’ became popular. We can’t ignore either how mobile phones suddenly became more intelligent than us or that we would be overwhelmed with too much online data daily, so much so that we can’t cope with it. Social media TOOK off, and politicians were seen to be tweeting and twittering like regular folks! Instagram arrived, and we witnessed the Rise of the Influencers with it! IG changed our world and the way we looked at it!

The 2010s also saw considerable changes in television, especially series and more so ‘long running series’ like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead and others; Superhero movies made the headlines as the primary Trend!

We also saw the arrival of the early epidemics that changed how people would think about the possibility of future health risks globally!

What were considered some of the best films?

Black Panther, Lincoln, Hereditary, The Lobster, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Zero Dark Thirty, Dunkirk, 12 Years a Slave, Parasite, The Master, The Social Network, Papillion, Hacksaw Ridge and Black Swan, to name a few.

Best Television Series?

Game of Thrones, Vikings, The 100, Suits, The Vampire Diaries, Downton Abbey, Glee, Line of Duty, The Big Bang Theory, Death in Paradise, Good Morning Britain, Gogglebox, The Good Wife, Mr Robot, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Orange Is The New Black, Fargo, The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad as some examples.

How About Books Then?

Normal People, The Goldfinch, The Martian, Gone Girl, The Round House, The Girl on the Train, Divergent, Bring Up The Bodies and Mockingjay.

But which celebrities were household names??

Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt, Sophie Turner, Kit Harrington, Amy Schumer, Cardi B, Bruno Mars, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez, Taylor Swift, Donald Trump, Megan Fox, Amy Winehouse, Selena Gomez. Christina Grimmie, as well as Oprah Winfrey and Kim Kardashian!

  1. Some songs in 2010 I actually liked though I still stick to the older music for my listening pleasure. Carley Rae, Taylor Swift and Adele are some of my favorites.

    1. Hey Eugenia 🙂

      Happy Friday to you.

Those three you have displayed are also favourites of mine too.

2010 – 2019 wasn’t altogether bad listening and enjoyment, but like you l listened to a lot of my favourites genres through other mediums and platforms over this last decade too.
