I am a big fan of Bill Nighy, and have been for a few good years now. I was thrilled the other day to see The Worricker trilogy which l hadn’t seen before. But he is an extremely versatile actor in my opinion, obviously there are others who may not always see him as that …. but he is on the big screen of films, television, theatre and radio too, not forgetting his voice acting in the video game industry. An all rounder really.

I actually saw him initially as a younger actor in a host of one off British television episodes like Bergerac, Boon, Peak Practice in the 90’s and then the first big screen film l actually saw him in was Still Crazy 1998 as Ray, then it was Underworld 2003 [l have a crush on Kate Beckinsdale so was actually watching that for her …. but saw Bill as Viktor and then l saw him in Shaun of the Dead 2004 where he played the role of Phillip – l have been a fan of his since the start really – but how about you, are you like Grace and Angie or not a fan at all?

Below are my personal Top 12 favourites – if you are a fan too, what are yours?

I could have made this a 15 or even a Top 20 – but later on this month a new subseries of Theme Times is starting called Theme Times Too which is about the connections with films and their actors as in how many other films, actors have starred alongside the main Bio.

However, hope you enjoy my line up below.

  1. Loved the clip on acting. I learned to laugh and cry on cue in acting class, feelings had nothing to do with it. Or as Olivier was said to have advised Dustin Hoffman ” …that’s why it’s called acting” I

  2. I forgot about Pirates and Rango. I’ve seen more of Bill Nighy than I thought. He’s very versatile and does the perfect “straight man” in comedy.
Notes In A Scandal with Cate Blanchett and Dame Judi must be decent just by the cast alone. Gonna have to add it to my list.

    Thanks, JB🌠
