What are your favourite films – let me know below – don’t be shy – let me know whether it is 1 title of 10!
How long could you go without any physical/virtual contact from other people, family, friends and animals if you had to – how long would it be before you felt the pressures of isolation from all external contact?

Could you do it for a week, a month, six months – a year or would you crumble after a few days?

  1. Good morning! It’s Friday evening here in NZ and freezing cold. Great line-up of flashback songs there. Hope you’re well.

  2. A very good morning Rory!
I can’t say which is my all time favorite movie, they come and go! Some large an impact for their content and others for the memories.
I haven’t tried to live a life without and contact from people. I always had some family around me. I guess I’ll have to experiment to find out.

  3. Good Noon 😀
    Happy Friyyyyaaaayyyyy!
Britney Spears and J Lo wow. These are some famous songs.
I mostly enjoy animated movies and all are tagged favourite after watching. The list is long.

  4. I think it would depend to a large extent on knowing that the period of isolation will end and exactly when. If I didn’t know when I’d see someone, probably two weeks would be unbearable, but if I knew definitely maybe I could manage a whole year! Who knows?

Have we given you favourite films before, Rory? Like Sadje, I don’t have favourites really.
As a kid, I’d get excited whenever they showed Jason and the Argonauts on telly. Ray Harryhausen’s animated beasties!
I like to catch Goldfinger when it’s on – not too bothered about the other Bond films but I was surprised how good From Russia With Love was when it shown as a tribute to Connery.
I like The Ipcress File, Hulot’s Holiday, Tampopo.

I don’t have a movie subscription now so only watch them when I find them and there are a number of films I’d like to see not having seen them for a long time. The Day Of The Jackal with Edward Fox. Three Days Of The Condor with Robert Redford. Midnight Cowboy with Hoffman and Voigt.

I cannot stand to watch musicals! 😬 unless it’s a cartoon or a story specifically about musicians.

    1. Hey Ian, have you given me favourites before? no, l have asked for many things but not specifically favourites 🙂

So films, listed noted with thanks 🙂

Interesting answer indeed – l guess it might come down to how specifically social or people orientated a person is … people like myself who ‘mingle’ for want of a description with people as in when walking as opposed to actually physically interacting on a daily social basis might find it all very much easier.

I used to live in a caravan on the fens and many a time l didn’t talk to any humans for weeks on end, l used to talk to animals, and occasionally l had a Skype call with friends – but many a time, l preferred my own company, so much so that many simply referred to me as a hermit.

      1. I agree it depends whether you need other people. Also I was answering on the presumption it was an imposed isolation more than a choice.

        1. Hey Ian, yes l agree and l gathered how you were answering – it was an interesting answer anyway.

The reason l asked the question is l was watching a programme the other night where it was about the prision service placing people into forced isolation and that the premise was that it could break a person in the space of a week and this intrigued me.

  5. Good Morning! Today’s songs – never heard them. The performers – just names to me. As always, I’m going with Moonstruck for my favorite movie – I can practically recite the entire script. Not that there haven’t been other movies I have watched multiple times. I haven’t watched a movie in a long time, I don’t have the patience for it. Tho if I must watch a movie I do prefer the tv because of the FAST FORWARD button – I can just skip the boring parts, and the endless chase scenes or fight scenes or whatever else they pad the movie with to stretch it out…Meh.

      1. As I said, I know the names, I read the gossip columns LOL just have never seen/heard any of them perform.

  6. Good afternoon, Rory! I’m not a massive Oasis fan, but ‘Wonderwall’ is one of my favourite songs – playing it now 🙂

  7. Happy Friday! Hope you are feeling better.

Favorite movies: Dr. Zhivago, When Harry Met Sally, Chicago, Analyze This, You’ve Got Mail, My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Mamma Mia (1&2), Goodfellas, 27 Dresses, Alex & Emma, My Cousin Vinny

How long: I usually don’t even go 24 hours without texting my daughters. We talk on the phone a few times a week. I like staying in weekly contact with close friends as well, though I’ve gone longer. I do chat with my housemate a few times a day, so I’m never really alone now. As far as physical, I find I don’t need much touch from other people, but I’m always cuddling Gatsby.

    1. Hey Paula, great selection of films, so thank you for that 🙂

      Interesting answers, many thanks 🙂

      Here’s wishing you a lovely Friday 🙂

  8. Hey Rory, thanks for the mention! Taking me back to the days of coming home from school and putting the music channels on with the likes of Britney and Christina 🙂 How long could I go without physical or virtual contact? A matter of hours because i have partially lost 2 of my senses, i guess i try and make up for what i’ve lost, so physical touch and a sense of belonging matters to me and I can’t go very long without it.

  9. Happy Friday, Rory ☺️
The Thin Man is one of my favorite movies.
I noticed you asked about ping backs the other day in a morning post. Just FYI I don’t receive notification of them. I catch your universal greetings at various times in the day depending on the day but I imagine that’s pretty obvious by the timing of my replies. Haha.
    Have a super one! ☺️

  10. Oops forgot. The number one reason I use reader to access your site is because the site itself will not allow me to interact. I cannot leave comments or likes on site. Only in reader.

    1. Hey Suzanne, well that is interesting .. what is more fascinating is that it used to be that Pbacks went to everyone, it used to be that everyone could interact with the blogs – it appears that the introduction of the block editor has more glitches than WP care to admit to.

    1. Hey Gary, yeah there was, although it started to go down a tad in my eyes in the early part of the millennium. How was the rock side of things in your eyes?

  11. I have never been alone. I’d really like to try it someday!

I’ve noticed that a lot of blogs don’t do a pingback unless you link a specific page or post. The link will take you to the blog, but the blog doesn’t know its been linked.

    Did that make sense?
Rough week… catch ya SaturnDay 💌

    1. Hey Grandma, be careful what you wish for as they say.

That is interesting and l remember something The Haunted Wordsmith – good ol’ Theresa once told me – which was basically what you have said here – a PB will not work direct to blog but only to a post. MM, l will try that on tomorrow’s Universal Greeting and see what the results are.
