So there we go folks our Top 40 All Time Favourited Action Films!
Were your choices in here?
What would your choices be?
Next time – Top 24 James Bond Movies – which ones are your favourites?

Love, love love Jackie Chan movies! And certainly the Indiana Jones movies. Never seen any of the others I’m afraid (well, maybe the 1st or 2nd James Bond). I hate to say this but I get a big kick out of the “Deadpool” movies. (And yes, ‘Gladiator’ was a great movie but I wouldn’t call it an action but rather in the same category as ‘Braveheart’ – historical??)
Well all good movies Grace —
Interestingly enough Braveheart is classed under the genre of War Drama by IMDB and yet described by Wiki as Historical Drama and l wouldn’t class it as Historical as it ‘s pretty far fetched from actual events but good audience capture.
Gladiator thankfully had the sense to not class itself as historical but rightfully under action and adventure because as historically ambient as it may have been it was historically and grossly inaccurate but again great audience fodder.
Now Deadpool is a great flick for action and comedy and luckily had the foresense to only class itself as those genres and not something silly like Scientific or Drama – but it’s a Marvel which is mostly Fantastical Action Adventure and mixed in with Sci-Fi Fantasy – so it’s always a hard one to grapple when there are so many film genres 🙂
i guess I like my ‘action’ movies with great gooey gobs of humor!
I think that also makes for a good action movie 🙂
Oh you reminded me of a whole raft of films that I’ve enjoyed over the years! The Jackie Chan movies are some of my favorites (well anything he has starred in, he’s an excellent comedian, let alone action star!!) I’d forgotten about the Indiana Jones series and that certainly was excellent! There was another, far shorter lived ‘series’ (two movies) which starred a younger Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner “The Jewel of the Nile” and a sequel (the name to which I’ve forgotten), which were great action films too. And the “Mummy” series starring Brenden Fraser was another really good one, as was “National Treasure” (the first movie, I didn’t care too much for the 2nd one) with Nicholas Cage. You’ve proven that action films don’t have to be about mindless violence and gore.. Thanks Rory!!
Oh you have mentioned some real good ones there Melanie, some that Grace too would love with their comedy aspect – one series l always liked pre- series for TV was The Librarian movies 🙂
Romancing The Stone was the other MD & KT movie. They were good!
Yes it was excellent, there were three weren’t there?
Great list of movies, I’m glad others added the ones I missed. I think I’ve seen all but 2 or 3 of these.
🌊🦄💫🧸💌
It was a good listing 🙂
