|“Piss off Outa My Wood!!”|
Scrappy used to chase the wood pigeons off her lawns yapping at them as she raced from the back stairs to the bottom of the garden … in her last year of life she didn’t tend to do that so much – she had aged very quickly following the IVDD and chasing the Percy’s off the grass suddenly didn’t hold the same excitement it once did. I imagined to myself when l saw her running down the garden and geruffing as she did she was yelling at the Percy’s to ‘Get off my land!”
I would smile and think ‘Poor ol’ Percy, all she/he wants is some stroll time and to enjoy the serenity of the gardens’……. and yet, that is how l felt this morning .. when my peace time stroll was broken up by loud dog walkers who seemingly thought that the entire population of Bluebell Wood – the squirrels, foxes, hedgehogs and badgers, pigeons all wanted to share in the morning conversation about their bloody new conservatory build! I was literally getting ready to rumble!!
The world’s waking up, all those who NEVER believed there was a problem anyway [but despite all that never left the safety of their homes even to walk the dogs in the woods] are all blah blah and more blah, “Yer well l don’t believe it , you know .. but best be safer than sorry right there’s a lot of crazy arseholes out there int there?”
The sanctuary of my morning stroll wasn’t just disturbed but shattered – last week you were lucky to see perhaps two dog walkers and this morning l saw 6 and YET l heard quite distinctly only 2 – their dogs were quieter – enjoying the ambience of a beautiful sunny morning in the cool of the wood .. unlike their much louder two legged companions!
I couldn’t help but think oh for goodness sake just “Piss off Outa My Wood!!” but l didn’t say that as that wouldn’t be right – they had every right to be there equally as much as l did. They can speak about whatever they want all l objected to was the fact they weren’t just speaking, but yelling it out for everyone to hear in my village and quite possibly the next! Considering they were standing within six feet of each other [safe distance ironically] just added to the humour of it all.
The world is returning to how it used to be in some quarters – which l think is good for some things – but l think nature will start to suffer once again from of all things the noise pollution of the ignorant first l feel!
I have been very lucky, many of us have … we enjoyed the tranquility of silence and got used to it – very used to it …where l am moving is quite busy and yet quiet at the same time. Sandwich is a tourist town in some respects – although it has pockets of quiet. I think you are all like me, going to love Sandwich. It’ll be our big adventure together!
“Keep reading. It’s one of the most marvelous adventures that anyone can have.”
I spoke to my landlord yesterday and informed her Suze and l would be handing in our one month’s notice on the 1st July which means we will be out of this house by end of July. That gives us 37 days to now kickstart the heavier side to this operation …. l knew this morning than l needed to take a quiet time out in my favourite wood and visit my soul tree and up my energy levels, wave myself with the zen of the woods and so when l heard two distinctly loud voices shatter my tranquil moments l really was getting ready to club someone to death!!
“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
Khalil Gibran, Sand and Foam
Of course that isn’t what l do … but you get the jist!
Hey ho, all the fun and the games start now, thankfully my packing is done of the house, but Suze has to really get hers done, l need to book a utility home move with the Internet provider l can survive without most things – but am quite distraught at no internet – it’s not the end of the world of course – l will prep up a contingency cover [if needed] of a week’s worth of The Hello and bring back a short season of The Goodnight. In that time take a small blog holiday and unpack the house and familiarise myself with Sandwich.
But before all that happens, l have three gardens to sort out – the home one we have now needs to be packed up, my new one in Sandwich and Suze’s new one in Deal – all plants and containers, composters all need identifying and put into the inventory. Soils to be carted with us need to be processed and so on…… strains, sprains and drains are all that now remains!
Then there is the house moves and the house preps and the house moves and the booking of other utilities and the booking of removal vans, getting the decorator in and …… now it really, truly starts like it hadn’t started before and everything was just a rehearsal!
Deep breaths in, deep breaths out, deep breasts in, deep breasts out!
Should be fun

Anyway, thanks for reading – catch you later
