The last Games ‘snippet’ back story …
Blimey!! Ian, look at that girls melons! How did she get them that big?
Of course l am sure you have grasped this one already and it’s not some disco one liner. In 2003, l went to a country fayre just outside Market Deeping on the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire border and there were many of the typical events you would expect from a localised fayre. One of the events was “The Biggest Fruits Ever Competition!”
It was an annual event and was to focus on the sized and prized fruits of all the entrants. The winner was a local lady who was always reknowned for her fondness for melon varieties and in 2003 she took first place for the size of her indoor grown Honeydews … which for the record were absolutely massive, almost football size! She herself could hardly get two hands around one. Her secret to their large size was to talk to them daily and keep them buggly and that apparently they responded to – l kid you not folks – stroking!
As the judges were inspecting the entrants stalls, they were extremely impressed by Sarah’s melons and one judge, Frank Tuppington in particular was so impressed, unthinkingly turned to his fellow judge, Ian Michaels, himself looking and drooling at an overly large pear [yes l know!!] and said “Blimey!! Ian, look at this girls melons! How did she get them that big?” At hearing this the crowd roared with laughter and Sarah, owner of the melons said ” Oh l see, like good sized melons do you Mister Tuppington … yeah, l can see you do. The flesh on my melons is really full and tasty!”
Of course the crowd roared again … as they say ‘All the fun at the fayre!”
Today’s Eaves Dropped Conversation Snippet is quite recent, this year in fact!
“Oh babes, l am all sticky! It’s sticking to my thighs as well, l have to peel it off as it’s dried!”
… So, what can you do with this – if you didn’t know the story?
