Blogging Insights # 19 — Writing Prompts? – Prompt byTanya of Salted Caramel
Do you like to respond to writing prompts?
Do you feel that they add value to your blog?
What are your favourite kind of writing prompts?
Which ones are you less likely to do?
Prompts, prompts , prompts and more prompts ….
For more understanding into it all
Remember this … “When in Rome, do as the Romans do!”
Meaning if in doubt, don’t worry and don’t shout, no need to fall about … just watch and observe other bloggers and writers alike and it’ll not be long before you ‘get it’… of course you could be different ..
Creating a Tale in an Ocean of Teeth!
Despite what some will tell you…
… and everyone has a view,
Writing, responding and creating prompts,
Isn’t as easy as some might think, to actually do!
Me, well l love them, l like me something to chomp,
Down upon, sink my teeth into!
I love nothing more than a literary romp,
Around the inside of my head…
…stirring, whirring and shaking up the imaginations,
Within my skull reminding me l am alive and not yet dead!
Anyways …. the foundations of my inner machinations…
…. adores it the most when we can start a rattlin’ and a rollin’
Drawing in to the skull, like a magnet is alluring to fragments..~
… little shiny particles that it pulls towards it all controlling!
Prompts are a healthy part to writing, they alleviate the stagnant,
…. the rotting inside an unused brain,
Which seemingly believes that it must do the same routine ..
…over and over again!
But that’s not the actively vibrant scene of a sparkling machine!
No, you can’t just bottle up your creativity … you have to let it go,
Like Time in a Bottle, you can’t just put a cork on it..
You know?
Never bottle up your imaginative whatsits!
There is a true beauty to prompts, they allow you to exercise..
… to make your mind jump and cartwheel and grind,
Think up, conjure, imagine, surprise and materialise …
Ideas and thoughts that you may have thought were undefined!
That moment when your creative hat is upon your head,
… or the artsy bracelet of wisdom squeezes you in joy,
When thoughts are abundant like crunchy hailstones beneath your tread,
As you cycle through the inventiveness of your wordery vision on the deploy!
That’s the genius, the cleverness to a great prompt,
It tickles something from your cranium in an almost sensual manner,
Your grey matter is eager to get out of the swamp,
… and proudly boast your achievements on your banner!
With a prompt – you never know what your mind will see,
Nor, where musical incantation or an image might take you,
… or whether a posed question will challenge your probability,
The beauty of a good prompt is to see what it allows you to unscrew!
My advice for those new to being prompted, is to not …
See it as a mental problem in need of treatment..
Rather to allow a rainbow of colourful hallucinations to blot
… your keyboard or paper in excitement!

In quick answer to your questions Tanya …
Do you like to respond to writing prompts?
Yes very much so, when l have the time to do so l do.
Do you feel that they add value to your blog?
Yes l think to a certain degree they can, it depends of course upon the prompt – but the answer is two fold – one as a creator of prompts and two as a responder to prompts… creators generate a lot of interest towards their blogs and responders provide traffic and footfall. As long as all are happy to provide in the classic give and take then everyone is a winner.
What are your favourite kind of writing prompts?
My favourites are questions, words and images – those that l can really flex my mind with and hopefully like now – combine – l am pretty useless with one word prompts which is why l tend to group many prompts together, plus it is more challenging.
Which ones are you less likely to do?
The ones that don’t speak to me.
My thanks to the following bloggers and prompters alike for their imagery, wordery and questions, musical inspiration too!
Di of Pensitivity 101, Sadje of Keep it Alive , Paula of Light Motifs II , drtanya@saltedcaramel , and Fandango of This, That and The Other
Brilliantly done, in true Rory style!
