The Really You!

Season 1 – Game 14

Question Fun Directory

What is or who is The Really You? No, really, as in really you? Who are you really? That’s basically what this game is about – who are you – who is – the really you!

Every week – just three questions – about you to tell us!

How long is your memory and which is better, long, short or sensory?

I always joke l can remember in clear detail what l was doing, five, ten, fifteen and more years ago – BUT l struggle to remember what l was doing yesterday and sometimes more alarmingly twenty seconds ago!

There are so many differing types of memory from short term or better known as working memory which has a duration of anywhere between 15 – 25 seconds and long term or life time memory which is longer than 30 seconds. Sensory memory is the shortest with less than a second retainer. There are other memory types, but the three main memories are sensory, short and long – and my long  is very good, and my short isn’t bad, but it is in fact my sensory memory  that is appalling.

Of course Suze says l have selective memory – l choose to remember things – we are all guilty of that … however what Suze is really referring to is a form of joke in this household … such as when was ‘the last time you cooked?’, or ‘when was the last time you …?’, you get the jist.

Things that are important to me, l will always remember, things that are simply inconsequential are forgotten very quickly indeed.

Would you or have you eaten insects and if so what types?

Strangely enough – according to theorists the future of our edible food will contain a lot more insects on our menu’s and inside our digestive systems. I have eaten insects – it is not something l make a regular habit of, but l can at least say hand upon heart and stomach l have tried it!

I think this is a truly fascinating topic and may write a post on it soon and would love to hear from my readers who have eaten insects and their views – good, bad and fugly?

Eating insects, creepy crawlies and grubs and bugs isn’t really that bad a concept and has been done for literally years upon years, era upon era. I think the first time l did so willingly and by this l mean, not including bugs l may have consumed inadvertently  in meals, drinks, breathing or sleeping – but the first time was actually in Malaysia at the age of six or so. My Amah Choy introduced them to me when she was eating them.

They are filled to the brim with nutrients and are a way healthier and climate consumable than say hundreds of thousands of cattle farting daily.

But l have already eaten worms, ants and witchetty grub, locusts, spiders, wasps and butterflies and mealworms – l have had them fried, deep fried, shallow fried, roasted and even one time boiled – personally l prefer fried!

Are you a wordery puzzle person – if so which types?

I am very much a puzzle game type of person, but l don’t like all types of puzzles. I mean the classic puzzle is a game in itself anyway – and l only on occasion like this type of game, but l am more in favour of word puzzles, question puzzles and thinking puzzles. I have never really been a crossword type of person.

Suze does a lot of Wordsearch in bought book form, although l personally prefer to use online varieties. Currently one of my favourite fill ins – is this …

Brain Games – Word Wipe

So there we go folks!

Three basic The Really You questions for you …

… now it’s your turn!

If you create a post with your answer please do remember to add a ping back to this post – l am currently not getting all the links and so sometimes l never see your responses, so a manual link in the comments also helps out – Cheers Rory

  1. I remember being in Cambodia years ago and seeing bugs galore in the street markets. For me the biggest issue around eating bugs would be the texture. I would be more open to eating them if they were ground into powder and added to another food to boost the protein content.

    1. Hey Ashley, yes l remember also strangely enough when l was in Krabi Thai seeing the same things – giant crickets deep fried. But l can fully understand the issue with texture – and l could see that being quite an appealing idea – there is of course quite a few products like that available now – but appreciate your comment as l would like to add that in to the post when l create it 🙂
