How old is your current blog/website?

A Guy Called Bloke published the first post in September 2017 – so that makes this blog now 27 months old.

Do you ever look back at your site i.e. read through your old posts?

Do l ever look back into the Yesterday’s? Yes l do, many a time – l would say from an internal administration point of view a good 40% – especially as currently with the likes of The Question Hub l am looking back on my Awards page and looking at questions that l both posed and were posed to me and l have included many of those in the question creation hub.

As to the physical reading of older posts – not so much – although l look back at roughly 25% of a given month at old prompts to see if l can revamp them or if l am to make new ‘Question Fun Prompts’.

But once every 3-4 months l tend to reblog my Poetry collection as any new to the blog readers may not have seen those. The last time the poetry underwent a total reblog ended in the first week of November and l have been working on producing a lot of newer content and so l should imagine that the next reblog of the entire collection which also includes some newer poems will commence again in March of 2020.

How long ago did you update your about page ?

I make it a habit of updating the About page once every 14 – 16 weeks – the last update was end August of this year and it is due for a rewrite at the end of this month.

I think it’s important to keep that page fresh – as writers, creators and readers alike – we change, our personalities change, what might seem like a slight difference in reflection to you can in fact impact upon your writing of content to your readers more than you might know, and usually it takes an outsider to your internal workings to spot this.

So l tend to watch comments on any of my posts to further identify if any alterations are required in the ‘Introduction to my Blog’ because it might not be addressed and also in a small way – the About page is there as a form of disclaimer too – it gives the heads up to your overall character – in example .. you might start writing a new series that your readership is NOT aware of you having an interest in – however if you have a broad description in your About page that covers a diverse genre of topic, then the readership will not be as surprised should your blog adopt or indeed adapt to a different path.

If you were to start a new blog today, what would you do differently?

I wouldn’t approach it differently, although l have learned a few tricks of the trade since blogging and so l might tweak things differently – but overall – it would look pretty much like now.

The reason l chose to include Jeanne’s questions here is because these are about personality and character and Tanya’s Insight questions were also in a small way about the same subjects.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Perfect happiness doesn’t exist – it’s a myth – to achieve moments of perfection – usually come around as a result of hard work, occasional good luck or chance – but ‘perfect happiness’ is unsustainable – the best that most can hope to procure is ‘happiness’ for that time and then work at maintaining that result.

What is your greatest fear?

Of being a failure to myself.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

This is an excellent question …. to say at times the totally wrong and inappropriate thing even if it is blatantly and obviously true – my lack of empathy at times in the eyes of others would be a deplorable trait as far as they are concerned. It’s all about timing and balance, something l am terrible at in the real world. So l guess that as tactful as l can be my poorest trait is a lack of tact.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Arrogance and pomposity.

Which living person do you most admire?

This is a question that always stumps me in truth – l have admiration for a lot of people, but l don’t have specific admiration for any particular one individual – l might further admire ‘traits’ in one person but not all of their traits.

What is your greatest extravagance?

More of a sin really, but l enjoy long hot showers.

What is your current state of mind?

Pretty damn good in consideration to everything going on, l would not say l am in 100% positive mode but l am riding at about 75%. The start of the week l was journeying through some shit and that dropped me down to around 35% but as the week has progressed l am increasing again.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

I think mindfulness is overrated as a virtue – l think there is a destructive danger in the constant pushing and promotion of mindfulness – that is allows shrewd and canny operators to set up shoddy concepts pushing this through. Instead of mindfulness to the extreme, we should look at overall wellness. I think that mindfulness could have a detrimental affect on a person’s overall sense of wellbeing as in they might start believing there is a problem with them if they could not achieve mindfulness.

On what occasion do you lie?

In truth [irony there], l don’t lie – l am a very poor liar – honesty l think is more truthful, even if at times it hurts you or others in the process. But then, we have to l think examine the lie? Are we talking fibs, white lies, false lies, protective lies or are we talking compulsive lying?  This is not a question that l think can be answered simply – however as it is structured to be answered as such .. l will answer – l am not a liar.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

My smile – l tend to not smile as l once did, because it looks like my tongue has stepped onto a landmine and it has exploded into my mouth – my teeth are in desperate need of serious work, and so l tend to not smile. I know the truth behind the smile and so do so sparingly.

Which living person do you most despise?

Wow, that’s such an awful question – who do l despise? I don’t really despise anyone – but l dislike quite a few people, mostly politicians, prime ministers and presidents.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

To possess the ability to say things as they are and speak his mind.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

To possess the ability to say things as they are and speak her mind.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

Oh goodness, well ….  ‘In Truth’, Be Right Back, You Know,  “My pleasure”. There are probably many more, that is something l should imagine my readers could answer all too well 🙂

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

The what would be – my ability to express and the who would be my partner, but also my dog Scrappy.

When and where were you happiest?

Well, we are back to this again, in the pursuit of syndrome … l have been happy during several phases of my life, l am not generally an unhappy person although l have known great pain and sadness, but how do we truly define happiness in the first place? What might make me happy, might not make another feel the same way and vice versa.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Currently to get out of bed not feeling like the galaxy has dropped on my head would be a great starting point!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wouldn’t – to change one thing, could very well change all of me, it has taken me 46 years from the time of cognitive thought from the age of ten to determine where l was, and who l was which l only truly discovered when l was 44, so for the past 12 years l have been working on improving who l am as a person anyway. But some things are not destined to be changed as they are integral to who l am at the very core of me – that would be like stepping on a butterfly and expecting life to be the exact same afterwards with the exclusion of that one thing.

If l was to change a moment in my personality, would l for instance be typing here today in response to this question about the one thing l would change about myself or would l be somewhere else?

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Well how do we define a greatest achievement? Surviving death, or close encounters with death, or coming back to life after serious depression, to cease self harming and suicide attempts, or living an extraordinary life, or working towards improving primate care in collections or, or, or? What truly defines a greatest achievement? A personal achievement perhaps if so, then the list is long.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

Well this is a subject, again all by itself – that l may well discuss at a later date.

Where would you most like to live?

Ha ha, where is a place that is free of the burdens of a so called beautiful world that is not coerced, dominated or manipulated by so called perfection seeking polticians? Tell me, because that ‘s where l want to live.

What is your most treasured possession?

I have a few items that l consider treasured – two teddy bears, two books and three stones. But above them … my mind as it holds all of who l am and my memories.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Well know that place, for me personally, it was when l was at the start towards the end of contemplating ending my life.

What is your favorite occupation?

Mm, well l can only speak with regards the occupations l have performed as careers and whilst they were considered favourites at the time, many of them years on, would not be considered favourites. A toss up between working the escort industry and working with animals.

What is your most marked characteristic?

Well, this is an intriguing question – in what sense is this question aiming itself at to be addressed? Personally, emotionally, physically, mentally what? It is a bit open ended. I guess, it is my curiousness and my open mindedness.

What do you most value in your friends?

Their acceptance of who l am because that is what l offer them.

Who are your favorite writers?

I have many favourited writers and no specifics.

Who is your hero of fiction?

Oh l don’t do the whole hero thing – although l did like Harry Potter.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

I have no earthly idea.

Who are your heroes in real life?

I don’t have heroes – there are people l admire in so far as work they are doing, but l would never class them as heroes, mostly champions for their causes.

What are your favorite names?

Favourite names of what? People?  I don’t have any favourited names of people.

What is it that you most dislike?

Questions that are too closed.

What is your greatest regret?

Well we all have regrets, each and every one of us … the secret is to move on and treat them as a learning curve, but remember that we made decisions in our lives at the times or time that we thought they were the right thing to do – if they were not, then we learn to not repeat those mistakes.

It was a mistake for me to get married to the person l married and l do regret that. It was the wrong choice for both of us, we were not suited for each other – that proved itself over time, but at the TIME of me making that decision l believed it was the right thing to do .. time is what proves us right or wrong.

How would you like to die?

Peaceably and at the right time, as in not horribly and short lived.

What is your motto?

Think different, act different and do it differently to make a difference!

  1. Great motto! I get hung up on some of those questions… it would be easy to give a quick top of the head, right now answer, but that wouldn’t be completely honest. I am, in this moment right now, but I am also the sum of all the moments before…

“Perfect happiness” is the number one cause of UNhappiness, IMO.

    1. Hey Grandma – this … “Perfect happiness” is the number one cause of UNhappiness, IMO. Totally spot on ha ha! 🙂

It reminds me of a line l heard in a song once, ‘if you ever want to live a happy life, don’t make a pretty woman your wife!’ Of course, it is NOT a song that is acceptable these days.

  2. Those were some great insights, both into your blogging and your personality.

I particularly liked the one about the about page. That is exactly the kind of answer I was hoping for. I want to update mine but I don’t really know what to put in
