Well You Prompted Me!!

Well You Prompted Me!!

Fandango’s FOWC is my prime prompt here today – l decided to play with the last two weeks of words and celebrate many things – Wordsmiths, Writing, Creativity and Imagination and of course “The Word Eaters!” themselves!

As to the image used, well it just seemed appropriate! I love words, always have, l like cookies too … but sometimes well singular words need to be grouped together, you know?

I created this to the music of Herb Alpert!

It began like this ….

FOWC with Fandango — Rare

FOWC with Fandango — Live

FOWC with Fandango — Indulge

FOWC with Fandango — Litter

FOWC with Fandango — Stage

FOWC with Fandango — Map

FOWC with Fandango — Barbecue

FOWC with Fandango — Damage

FOWC with Fandango — Task

FOWC with Fandango — Inflict

FOWC with Fandango — Divulge

FOWC with Fandango — Rapid

FOWC with Fandango — Because

FOWC with Fandango — Buttress

FOWC with Fandango — Plant

… and ended up with this!

Dancing the Fandango – Celebrating Wordsmithery!

The Word Eaters!

I know this fellow, across the waters of the pond,
He’s into all sorts, a bit of this, that ….
…. and the other too and probably more beyond…
The realms of idle chit chat!

It was rumoured he was a nude skier once,
Long, long ago … he denied this of course …
I expected no less, this fellow’s no dunce!
… if anything he is more of a dark horse!

He keeps his identity close to his chest,
… matters not – he makes up for it with creativity,
Like the FOWC challenge l am about to address,
… and tickle my Wordsmithery into productivity!

I have decided to take on 15 of these words of his!
They cover quite the range of diverse eclectism,
… making it a challenge, a fizz of imaginative analysis!
I was prompted see, personally l blame my autism!

It has a hankering for words, wordery and smithery too!
So this broad selection of articulative choice,
Awards my brain the right materials to chew ..
… upon, and at the same time give those words poise!

So, without further ado,
Not wishing to delay the actions of my prompted mind,
Let’s begin to work this barbecue,
… of mixed ingredients and get them all rhymed!

I suppose the first part of the task,
… is to determine, to map out the stages of the poem!
So l must first look upon the words and ask,
Myself – well how do we make this wholesome?

Meaning, where am l to plant each and every word,
So that it doesn’t come across as literary litter?
That ‘s a tongue twister by itself, quite absurd!
…. perhaps l should reconsider?

No, l think it will stay in, it’s my craft, and l will indulge,
Because l can, that’s the beauty of poetry writing,
What’s the point if we can’t at times divulge,
… the odd word or two to make the reading ‘inciting?’

Did l mean inciting or exciting or exiting?
Not down to me to decide, is it really?
The readers determine whether the words are inviting,
To their inquiring minds and are suited or not, ideally!

As wordsmiths, our job is to tickle, seduce and entice,
The eyes, the mind, spirit and soul of the readers,
We write, we do not advise or offer advice,
…. That’s down to you, the word eaters!

Anyway, where was l? Oh that’s right, seeking inspiration,
For the words l am looking to progress and  address,
But l was taken off course by a fixation,
… and the need to explain the artisan’s buttress…

Of wordery and at times nonsensical and rare usage,
With terms and turns of phrase!
Phew! I must calm my mind, and disengage,
From becoming overly circuitous and ablaze!

I only have a few words of the list now to include,
… mm, tricky ones too, it must be said!
One makes me think about the word verisimilitude?
How am l to approach – it’s to do with the way it is read!

I mean is it LIVE or LIVE?
This is where the intrinsic beauty of comprehension,
Is needed the most, am l to rhyme with give or beehive?
Mm, very much a case of detailed attention!

Perhaps creative intervention, is in order?
Three words left now, crikey what am l to do…
… with damage, inflict and rapid, what’s my converter?
Oh, silly me l have done it already, l rhymed all 15 for you!

  1. Oh my goodness, you are, indeed, quite the wordsmith and the poet. I guess that makes me a word eater or perhaps a word beater. In either case, I’m flattered, honored, and, yes, impressed and amazed by your wordsmithery. Well done, my friend. And thank you!

    1. Glad you you enjoyed good sir, many thanks – again for the words 🙂

I find it easier at times to achieve more with a bigger word group and it gives the words a lot of life – if that makes for sense 🙂
