Scarlett Ingrid Johansson born November 22, 1984 is an American actress and singer. She has been the world’s highest-paid actress since 2018 and has made multiple appearances in the Forbes Celebrity 100. Her films have grossed over $14.3 billion worldwide, making Johansson the third-highest-grossing box office star of all time. She is the recipient of numerous accolades, including a Tony Award and a British Academy Film Award.

Born and raised in Manhattan, New York City, Johansson aspired to be an actress from a young age and first appeared on stage in an Off-Broadway play as a child. She made her film debut in the fantasy comedy North (1994), and gained early recognition for her roles in Manny & Lo (1996), The Horse Whisperer (1998), and Ghost World (2001). Johansson shifted to adult roles in 2003 with her performances in Lost in Translation, which won her a BAFTA Award for Best Actress, and Girl with a Pearl Earring. She was nominated for Golden Globe Awards for these films, and for playing an estranged teenager in the drama A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004), and a seductress in the psychological thriller Match Point (2005). Other works during this period include the mystery thriller The Prestige (2006) and the comedy-drama Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008), and the albums Anywhere I Lay My Head (2008) and Break Up (2009), both of which charted on the Billboard 200.

In 2010, Johansson debuted on Broadway in a revival of A View from the Bridge, which won her a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress, and began portraying Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Iron Man 2. She voiced an intelligent computer operating system in the drama Her (2013) and a python in the adventure film The Jungle Book (2016), and starred as an alien in Under the Skin (2013) and a woman with psychokinetic abilities in Lucy (2014), both science fiction films. In 2019, she received praise for playing a single mother in Nazi Germany in the satire Jojo Rabbit and an actress going through a divorce in the comedy-drama Marriage Story.

As a public figure, Johansson is a Hollywood sex symbol. She is a prominent brand endorser and supports various charities. She was married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011, and to French businessman Romain Dauriac, with whom she has a child, from 2014 to 2017.

I am a huge fan of Scarlett Johansson’s work, and have followed her since l caught her performance in The Horse Whisperer with the other fantastic actors l also have a lot of time for : Robert Redford, Kristin Scott Thomas, San Neill, Dianne Wiest and Chris Cooper. How about you, fan or not, and if so, favourited films or if not, why so?

Here’s what l consider 18 [Yeah, as said, huge fan] of her best performances in my honest opinion which displays her depth of diversity, as well as some of her more popular works.


1 – The Horse Whisperer – 1998

Annie’s daughter Grace and their horse have met with a severe accident that has led a strong impact on their minds. Annie takes the help of Tom, a horse whisperer who helps them recuperate.

2 – Lost in Translation – 2003

An American actor Bob, lands in Tokyo for an ad film and ends up meeting Charlotte, who’s left behind by her photographer husband. Gradually, the two discover a friend within each other.

4 – Fall – 1997

9 – Ghost in a Shell – 2017

In the near future, Major, the first cyber-human, must stop the growing cyber-terrorism. After discovering a secret of her identity, she sets out to learn more about her obscured past.

10 – Lucy – 2014

Lucy’s strength and mental capacities grow exponentially after the effects of a performance-enhancing drug set in. Soon, she transforms into a merciless warrior hell-bent on destroying her captors.

11 – Iron Man 2 – 2010

Tony Stark is under pressure from various sources, including the government, to share his technology with the world. He must find a way to fight them while also tackling his other enemies.

12 – Avenger: Infinity War – 2018

The Avengers must stop Thanos, a mad Titan, and his army from getting their hands on all the infinity stones. However, the mad Titan is prepared to go to any lengths to carry out his insane plan.

13 – Under the Skin – 2013

Disguising itself as a human female, an extraterrestrial drives around Scotland attempting to lure unsuspecting men into her van. Once there, she seduces and sends them into another dimension where they are nothing more than meat.

14 – Match Point – 2005

Chris, a former tennis player, looks for work as an instructor. He meets Tom Hewett, a wealthy young man whose sister Chloe fall in love with Chris. But Chris has his eye on Tom’s fiancee Nola.

15 – Don Jon – 2013

New Jersey bartender Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) knows what’s important: his friends, his family, his car, his church, his sexual conquests — and porn. In fact, Jon is a porn addict and has never had a genuine relationship with a woman. However, when he meets Barbara (Scarlett Johansson) he has to change his operating methods, because Barbara won’t be bedded easily. For the first time in his life, Jon begins a real courtship, but his obsession with erotica threatens to ruin everything.

16 – The Island – 2005

Futuristic thriller about a contained, seemingly utopian facility in the mid-21st century. The residents hope to be chosen to go to the Island – the last uncontaminated place on Earth, but when one inhabitant discovers that there are sinister forces at work, he and a female friend make a daring escape.

17 – Scoop – 2006

An aspiring journalist who gets a tip about the identity of a serial killer from a dead reporter, but finds herself falling for the prime suspect during her investigation.

To save his theatre from foreclosure, koala Buster Moon decides to host a singing competition with a 1,000 USD prize. But his assistant adds two extra zeroes by mistake while making the fliers.
