The Really You!

Season 1 – Game 04

Question Fun Directory

What is or who is The Really You? No, really, as in really you? Who are you really? That’s basically what this game is about – who are you – who is – the really you!

Every week – just three questions – about you to tell us!

Do you believe things happen for a reason?

One of those tricky questions l think, similiar to that of do you believe in ghosts or god – it is and they are all from the same pool of questions – you either believe in fate and destiny or you do not.  You can make things happen for a reason l believe by predetermining your actions – sometimes however you can not always guarantee the results, unless what you are doing is basic black and white no margin for error tasking …otherwise you are at the mercy of those actions, your actions.

However, l do believe things happen for a reason even if at this present time we do not know why they do, or we can not forsee how to prove that they do, but in my world, many a time things happen for a reason – sometimes l know why, many a time l do not.

Have you ever been so hyperfocused on something that you have lost complete track of time?

Oh yes of course for me as a man who simply cannot regulate or moderate anything, time is of no consequence – l get done what needs to be done or l do what l do because it needs to be done. One minute it might be 10am and the next it might be 10pm – l have fallen guilty of that behaviour. Sometimes l am so focused l forget to eat, shit, drink and be aware of anything else going on around me.

What contributions can you make as an individual to help with being more environmental and or what have you made as contributions?

There are lots of things we can all do, here’s a few l/we have done in the last 24 months to really cut back …. we do 90% of our shopping online, this in turn reduces the amount of times the car is taken to the road, l compost all of the vegetable waste and we grow our own foods for the table, we are no longer red or white meat eaters, we plan our evening meals by the week so we are avoiding unnecessary wasted foods.

We now work very closely with expiration dates on all foods,  we don’t have huge plate portions of food,  we try where we can to use way less plastic and now use alternative sources and are always looking for new alternatives to old methods, we recycle and reuse as much as we can, we donate directly to charity shops where we can so as to aid reusability on products and further more we have become very creatively crafty on other products.

We try to order from local sources only and by the end of next year, we have made a plan to NOT buy fruit and vegetables out of season, so we will only buy local and where possible buy from local markets in comparison to supermarkets for our fruit and vegetable requirements.  We no longer use chemical products in the house at all and haven’t done since 2015.

So in all, we don’t do badly with trying to do our little bits.

So there we go folks!

Three basic The Really You questions for you …

… now it’s your turn!

If you create a post with your answer please do remember to add a ping back to this post – l am currently not getting all the links and so sometimes l never see your responses, so a manual link in the comments also helps out – Cheers Rory

  1. Yes, things happen for a reason. It may take years or decades to understand what that reason was. We DO have free will, nothing is set in stone. Certain events, certain people are in our lives as part of our growth.

Time is slippery. Some days fly by, some hours last years. It’s easy to lose track when the mind is hyper focused.

We recycle, reuse, conserve. Buy locally, my car is a Prius so when I DO have to drive I’m putting fewer emissions in the air.
I donate money to Save The Redwoods and clothes and Ben’s old baby items went to friends of younger daughter to be reused. I pick up litter when I’m walking (not always, but if I have a bag or I know a bin is nearby) Every little bit helps.

    1. Hey Angie, excellent answers – it’s surprising the collection of rubbish, we do that automatically here in the village, and l am often astonished at how the people here, are more than willing to allow rubbish to sit outside their own houses and can’t be bothered to pick it up. But then on the other hand l am noit surprised, where l live is pretty affluent, we are renters and most of the people here are retired home owners and or own a second home here, and they are pompous right up their own arses!

Rubbish is beneath them, even if it is outside their own houses.

  2. No.
Recycle, compost, drive as little as possible and either bike or walk instead, keep my thermostat set to no higher than 62f in winter (our house isn’t air conditioned in the summer), avoid using plastic food or liquid containers, and eat mostly organic foods.

    1. Hey Fandango – superbly answered many thanks … do you cycle a lot? I think you said you were a baby boomer, l am guessing born in the 50’s? Well done for cycling – l used to love cycling, but l am a natural disaster on two legs as is, on two wheels and l become a danger to mankind apparently 🙂

As always thank you for playing along 🙂

        1. Yes, l have just bought a small pedal thing to work under the desk – the last time l rode a bike l nearly caused an accident, so Suze has said NO more outside cycling.
