Kindness Costs …. Nothing!
You know, l didn’t have this particular post planned into my day’s schedule – truth is, l didn’t even realise it was World Kindness Day till Saania of Fun with Philosophy bade me good greetings on the A Beautiful Day post this morning – she also told me that she had written a post which you can read here … The Magic Of Spreading Love
Have you ever sat down and asked yourself what is ‘kindness?’ Simply answered – it is being friendly, generous, polite and courteous and considerate to others. It’s not rocket science is it? If you need more clarification check out the World Kindness Day 2019 link here.
I was sitting here just thinking about things that you can do to help others – to be’ considerate to others and their plights and a lot of things – well they don’t have to cost you an arm and a leg – let’s not forget the simplest of considerations … smiling at another person, sharing a laugh with them, a comforting hand or hug of support works wonders too – these are little things – even like just talking to someone.
I don’t get lonely, but loneliness is a seriously big global issue – there are more lonely and vulnerable people out in our world than you might care to imagine.
Being Kind is not a specific deliberation as in each day you should not be looking for very specific moments to be kind – it just should be part of who you are naturally – to want to help others and especially those who could do with the additional help and support which at times – is really just the knowledge that someone is both there and cares enough to see how another person is.
But if you were looking for ‘a good deed checklist’ that could be done to award more satisfaction – read on…
Smile at someone you know …. or a stranger
Wish people well with greetings throughout the day – Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening…
Hold the door open for people – it’s still polite despite what some people say about ‘equality’.
Award someone a compliment, it’ll make their day!
Chat with your neighbours especially the elderly ones – check if they are ok and or if they need anything doing?
You could pledge a donation of time to a local charity for this week or make it a regular time slot for the year
Offer to buy food and drink for a homeless person, a teen or an adult.
Buy or make up parcels for the Crisis teams in your area with warm socks, toothbrush, paste, soap, handwipes, bandaids and so on. We have way too many homeless people in our world, we have way too much poverty.
Volunteer at a soup kitchen or similiar,
Declutter your house and donate to a local charity,
Give food coupons to someone in need,
Donate to a foodbank,
Share positivity on your social media accounts, your blog,
Help out at an animal sanctuary,
Ha ha – learn how to compost!
Grow your own produce!!
The fact is way simpler than anything above in the list -in the main it costs us nothing to be kind to others … that’s basically it.
So on that note, thanks for reading folks!
I really do hope you are having a truly beautiful day in all that you are doing!
Goodness is about character – integrity, honesty, kindness, generosity, moral courage, and the like. More than anything else, it is about how we treat other people.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
A tree is known by its fruit; a man by his deeds. A good deed is never lost; he who sows courtesy reaps friendship, and he who plants kindness gathers love.
