A mixed batch of questions today ….

How do you create your very own special mixed salad?

Well l trained to be a garde manger or sometimes known as a pantry chef/chef garde manger which is principally a chef skilled in the preparation and presentation of cold foods, salads and basic larder dishes. It wasn’t my only speciality but it was something l really excelled in and was passionate about – so making salads is a real deal for me. In my younger years l used to prepare salad buffets for banqueting events and l could spend all the mornings with my team creating marvelous dishes.

These days l still have a passion for creating salads but with not the same panache but still knock up a pretty decent and diversely fruited bowl of edibles!

Everyone has a different variation on the basic mixed salad and l would imagine each and every one of you who answers probably has a secret ingredient recipe for your own masterpieces – however this question is aimed at the most basic of your everyday home use mixed salad?

For me, l try to use the following for my everyday basic [but it is seasonally reflective]  …. olives, chicory, wild rocket, basil, coriander, mint, radishes, pepper, spinach, spring onion, tomato, cucumber, mushroom, red cabbage, snap peas and sometimes grapes and apples slices. But that is my general basic.

Name 10 things that you use every day?

Computer, Keyboard, Mouse, Toothbrush, Kitchen Crockery, Notepads, Pens,  Computer chair, Television, Spectacles.

Are you a list maker and item ticker or a just do it and go with the flow of the day person type?

Most assuredly a list maker and item ticker- there is a great deal of satisfaction with that … until the day becomes a routine and l know longer need to do that, but that’s when l change my routine.

When was the last time you just ‘let it all go?’ [Your answer will reflect your own opinion of ‘letting it all go’.]

Mm, that’s a good question …. and one l really had to think about, as ‘let it all go’, could mean all sorts of emotions … however … l think the last year has been a clear example of letting go of things – for me emotionally it has been a rollercoaster – but to define any specific moment of total release? None really, it has been a combination of moments and l think, in all seriousness, that perhaps l still haven’t ‘let it all go’ just yet, but that may be coming.

So there we go, my four answers out of the way, now your turn … let me know your answers below or should you wish to, by all means create a post – your choice. Should you choose to do so, please do include a ping back to this link …. Question Fun Directory

    1. Hey Dawn, nice answers, l totally agree with lettuce, cheese and broc being added to a salad it makes for some extra tastes 🙂

Thanks also for the top ten list 🙂

  2. I’m short on time, so your comment section will have to do. Great questions by the way!

How do you create your very own special mixed salad? Buy it from the place in town that makes the BEST ‘side’ salads going. The ingredients include lettuce (a variety of kinds, not just iceberg), red cabbage (finely sliced), carrots (finely sliced), cucumber (sometimes), radishes (thinly sliced and in season), croutons (I usually don’t put these on the salad – don’t need the carbs) and dressing on the side. My preference for dressing is thousand island, but I like honey mustard (sometimes), vinagrette (sometimes), blue cheese (rarely) or ranch. Nmmmm! 😛 Guess what I’m going to get for my dinner?

Name 10 things that you use every day? The car, the toilet, the computer, the phone, my tablet, my TV and remote, my walking shoes, the dogs’ leashes, the dog food, and the automatic ice maker in my fridge.

Are you a list maker and item ticker or a just do it and go with the flow of the day person type? I’m not, but I really SHOULD be. I find I forget things a little bit and writing them down or putting them in the phone calendar are MANDATORY or I probably won’t get whatever it is done. Not in a timely fashion any way.

When was the last time you just ‘let it all go?’ [Your answer will reflect your own opinion of ‘letting it all go’.] 2012-13. I remember how that felt too. Amazing.

    1. Hey Melanie, nicely answered and thank you considering your time restrictions 🙂

Yes a nice dressing for salad can really enhance the salad twice as much again 🙂

Glad to hear 2012/13 were great years for you 🙂

    1. Hey Tanya, many thanks for answering the Question Fun 4 – l couldn’t add a comment in for some reason as there wasn’t a comment box – also thanks for the extra link, l will read that shortly as l am writing an article this week about List Tickers like us 🙂
