Welcome to The Daily Four!

Today’s Questions to the Readers are….

Do you have any friends from your school days and if so how often do you socialise with them?

Do you find it difficult to admit that you are wrong, and why?

What was the title of the first movie you watched in a movie theater?

What was the most awkward thing that you’ve done for a friend?

………… first my own answers.

Do you have any friends from your school days and if so how often do you socialise with them?

Well in short l don’t. I have four ‘friends’ from the ‘Yesterday’s’ as l call them. One from back in the early 80’s who is on my Facebook, and he and l went for a hike around parts of the UK when we were 16/17 years of age – must write about this soon as he was the chap who ended up with a blister the size of England on his foot and the hike had to be cancelled. But we went to school together in Surrey.  I found him on Facebook a few years ago on the Reunion page of my old school, we exchanged a few messages and then that went dead. But he is still in Surrey and l am in Kent, and in truth we have nothing in common.

The other three, also on my Facebook are from my Catering College days in Guildford, and are from my old class, but once more we don’t socialise even on the application itself. They are scattered like the four winds in the UK and that’s all there is to it.

I don’t tend to socialise that much with my pre-history and people move on with their lives, their jobs and their families and unless you are ultimately in’their six’ as l call it, and by this l mean in constant observation and communication with each other, then what is there to celebrate friendship with?

Do you find it difficult to admit that you are wrong, and why?

Nope, not at all – if l am wrong l will hold up my hand straight away and admit to the fault, it’s just easier than pretending otherwise. As l have said countless times, l am not a liar and don’t intend to become one anytime soon. Honesty is my credo, sometimes people don’t like honesty – but at least you don’t have to keep remembering the lies.

What was the title of the first movie you watched in a movie theater?

Blimey, the first movie l ever saw ….. mm. I think the first one l ever watched by myself was in 1976 when l was 13 and living in Australia, and my parents dropped my sister and l off at the cinema just outside Luna Park in Melbourne, as they had to go to an important luncheon, and my job was to babysit my sister. She wanted to watch something childish and l remember saying ‘Nope, we will watch what l want to!” Sadly what l chose gave her nightmares and that was James Caan in the original Rollerball which was perhaps a bit too bloodthirsty for her. These days had l been that age, l probably would not have even got in myself.

But the very first film l ever saw with my parents was Airport – which was a disaster movie … which we saw in a drive in Australia and then it became a family outing to go and see these every time they came out, they were great, but considering l was 8 when l first saw it in 1971 doesn’t it shows how times have changed?

What was the most awkward thing that you’ve done for a friend?

The hands down winner to this question is the Blind Date l attended in 1982. I was 19 and somewhat shy, somewhat being an understatement in truth! My friend Burke wanted to take a girl he worked with for a night out and after weeks of asking her out she finally consented, but with a clause … that being she could bring a friend who would act as her chaperone, and that to make it fun Burke could ask one of his own friends along! Well that was me! The ‘friendly chaperone …. oh my what a nightmare … it turned out to be the girl’s mother! Who l think was quite possibly one of the most men hungry women l have EVER met in my entire life!!!

She had recently divorced from her husband and was in that period of her life when she was out to prove that she still had it! All night l had to fend off this woman, and why? Was she not good looking, oh yeah she was …. but she plum out absolutely terrified me!!! Hands down winner, might write about that soon!

So there we go, my four answers out of the way, now your turn … let me know your answers below or should you wish to, by all means create a post – your choice. Should you choose to do so, please do include a ping back to this link …. Question Fun Directory
