Welcome to Thursday Inspiration! This is my weekly prompt post and hopefully it will inspire you to write something creative, perhaps a poem or a piece of flash fiction. If you’d like to share your writing with the community, please indulge me and tag your post with #p0eticlicense and/or #lightm0tifs, and of course link back if you wish. I will try to visit everyone who participates. 🙂
This week’s theme is garden and the picture is below. Here is the song snippet from “Octopus’s Garden,” written by Richard Starkey in 1969:
I‘d like to be under the sea
In an octopus’ garden in the shade
He’d let us in, knows where we’ve been
In his octopus’ garden in the shade
It’s so nice at this time of the year,
I am actually suprised that l am even here,
Normally, l am so very late to the party,
But today l am first and feeling quite hearty,
It has to be said, even if l say so myself,
And such a nice position too, normally it’s the shelf,
But this year … well darlings l had so much to show off,
Can you see what l mean? I am not one to scoff,
Normally, as you know But on this occasion,
I thought why on earth not? It’s a celebration!
Look at them! Six, who normally has six?
Oh yes of course darlings l’ll pose for pics!
I am here for this year’s award, don’t you know?
Well you don’t just say no and don’t go ..
It’s not the done thing, you know that’s true!
No one does, and me here with my six, well goodness,
So yes darlings, l am going to display my success,
Obviously, l am proud to be here at the Garden Cloister,
Me, normally a staid and boring mummy oyster!
But this year, well boring no more!
No darkened shelf for me beneath the shore!
Oh ho ho and hip hip hooray,
For today …
I am the talk of the underwater garden,
So l do beg your pardon,
But today l am all a giggle and about to unfurl,
How blessed l am with six of the most beautiful pearls,
