Doodlepip’s Interviews – Misha Hhrrru? 82

Doodlepip’s Interviews Directory

Your Name?

Misha. My surname is Hhrrru? (yes, with the question mark) and “hhrrru?” is also my way of greeting all the beings. My birth name was Jaguar which I think also doesn’t sound bad. I also go by Mish, Mishka, Mishi, Mishong, Mishechka, Mishfluff, and have lots of other nicknames that are word games on my name or that aren’t related to my name and that my peeps call me. Before you make a mistake, I am a “he” not “she”, Misha is originally a masculine name even though it ends with an -a. I like my name but it drives me crazy when people think I am a girl, that’s why my peeps sometimes tease me calling me Lady Misha or Mademoiselle Michelle or just Michelle.

Your 2 Leggeds Names?

My human parents – whom I usually refer to simply as Mum/Mummy (my feeder, loo cleaner, groomer etc.), and Dad/Daddy (the world’s best spine stroker), – Mila (short for Emilia, who still thinks she’s my owner and who is my main snacks provider and helps me with writing), Olek (Mila’s brother whose socks smell very heavenly after he comes back from work), and Zofijka the Monster (Mila’s little sister whom I love and am deadly afraid of at the same time). I collectively call them the peeps most of the time.

Are you a specific feline breed or just your ordinary Moggie?

I am a Russian Blue Tsar.

How old Are You?

3 years, 4 months and 25 days. Sadly, the peeps have a real trouble understanding the difference between a 3-year-old two-legged and a 3-year-old feline, and treat me as if I was a baby most of the time. Though I have to admit I like it sometimes and I’m happy to play the role of a baby. I’d just like them to appreciate my intellectual abilities more, I’m Russian blue after all.

Do you run your household? If yes ….. how?

Do you live in the house, or outside or ‘Meh’ “I live where l want!”

I always have to have everything under control. I only live in the house. That is because Mummy is a pedant and doesn’t like animals going in and out, and because Mila is apparently allergic to my fur and is much less when I am clean, and I sleep with peeps so it’s “more hygienic” when I’m in. I still haven’t come to terms with it and make attempts to escape whenever possible. I am hungry for adventures.

Where abouts in the world do you live?

Northern Poland.

Are you an outdoorsy type of Kat, or exclusively indoor comfortable?

I am definitely out-doorsy but no one cares about what I am, what peeps think is always most important. I swear that one day I’ll organise a feline prisoners’ uprising, who wants to join in?

What type of exercise to take part in?

Yay for climbing the wardrobes and jumping up on the cupboards! I also do a lot of jogging, voluntarily and non voluntarily (when I have to run away from Zofijka). Mummy is very keen on fitness and I love being with her in her room when she exercises, for many reasons, but sometimes I exercise with her, I jump on her shoulders and stay there all the time when she exercises. and I’ll always find something to occupy myself with when I happen to be out, like training my balance on burning hot roof.

When out and about are you an intrepid explorer and love to go walkabout or do you prefer to stay within your home territory?

I have to stay, but I am very very curious by nature so I’ll always find something that I haven’t explored yet in the house.

Do your 2 leggeds play with you?

Zofijka plays with me mostly, sometimes it’s real fun, sometimes it’s scary. Mila or Mum play with me sometimes too.

Do you do any ‘typical’ Katty things that you enjoy, but maybe your 2 leggeds don’t?

I loooove scratching furniture, it’s so much fun, but the peeps hate it! Snatching food from the table when no one sees is a nice way of entertaining myself too, I can make nice little surprises for the peeps by hiding the food in their rooms and I have a supply just in case there’s nothing in my bowls. But snatching food really drives them mad so I try not to do it too often, and they rarely leave food on the table when no one’s in the kitchen now. I also like to wander around the cupboards and tables and leave my pawprints and fur which drives them crazy.

Have your 2 leggeds ever embarrassed you? If so how?

They embarrass me all the time by treating me like a baby, baby talking to me, or carrying me around while I can walk on my own. I am very independent, I don’t like being carried. They are soo very overprotective.

Do your 2 leggeds allow you to bring home any goodies from the outside that maybe you have hunted?

I’m really badly underappreciated in this respect, they never let me. But Mummy is scared of spiders so I save my honour by killing spiders for her if there are any and if I’m in the mood, I also like catching flies, butterflies and other small insects. My biggest achievement so far is killing an aquarium fish, but I didn’t have much pleasure out of it as they didn’t let me eat it. I don’t give up though, maybe next time they will.

Do you have favourite toys and if so what are they?

I don’t like those fancy cat toys you can get in shops. They’re for commoners. I like homemade toys or those that are provided by nature or things that aren’t originally toys. When I was little they used to spoil me with loads of toys and they still are here but I never ever play with them. I only have a scratchboard that Daddy made for me. I very much like to play with glass balls, rolling them around the house, I like the noise they make. Mila used to collect glass balls as a child so I have as many of them as I please but I always get frustrated because they get lost so easily and no one is committed enough to help me find them. I love playing with feathers, sticks, cones, all that smells like nature or forest. I love flowers too, especially biting them, it’s such a nice way to play but peeps never let me! But what I like most of all are leaves! Pieces of paper, pieces of textiles, cartonboard boxes, dead insects and small non edible things that 2-leggeds eat are also cool toys.

Are you allowed to freely scratch inside the house?

No, but I don’t care. Unless Dad’s at home, he gets furious when I do that. But other than that I don’t care whatsoever and especially like to scratch armchairs.

Do your 2 leggeds take you away on holidays with them or do you have to stay with friends or within a ‘Cattery?’

They never take me. I have mixed feelings about it. I’m curious about the world and I always dream about adventures and being an explorer and all that, but I’ve actually never been outside for longer than maybe 2 hours, and even a simple car ride leaves me exhausted and stressed out. I like exploring and adventures, but I don’t like travelling and changes. Even I don’t fully understand it, but I don’t have a choice anyway. I always stay at home. It’s never happened as long as I’m with my peeps that they’d all go for some longer holidays, there is always someone at home, usually Olek and Mila.

Are you given treats? Too few or just right? What are your favourites?

It’s always too few. Mila mainly gives me treats, she used to give me more but recently she decided I eat too much of them and I get much fewer. My favourite dry treats are Party Mix (what a bloody stupid superficial name!), and I love things that have thick, smooth texture like sauces. I have my favourite tomato-flavoured sauces that come in little tubes and they squeeze them out and Mila calls them my ice cream.

Are you fed a nutritional diet? What type of diet is it?

I guess it’s nutritional, I can mostly eat whenever I want and I usually get a lot of food. I don’t have any special dietary requirements, but am very fussy. As I said, I most like the thick and smooth food and I don’t like wet food that has a lot of stuff that you need to bite. Mum tried manipulating me and blending my food but such things don’t work with me. I get peep food too quite regularly – chicken breasts are my favourite. – I drink only water on a daily basis but sometimes they’ll give me kefir or yoghurt and that’s heaven!

Do you enjoy it or is it boring?

I usually can at least tolerate my food, but I often feel like I deserve something better.

Do you eat it every day, or sometimes refuse to?

I sometimes will refuse to eat if something is really yucky or boring but sometimes the peeps can be very stubborn and if they don’t give me anything else, I’ll usually just lick out the sauce and leave the meat, or just simply eat what I like the best in it and nothing more.

Are you a vocal Kat or quiet and unamused?

I’m not your average loud purring feline, most 2-leggeds have a hard time understanding it and think I’m wild or bad or have something wrong with my throat. I don’t, I do like to purr, but only when I want and how I want, not as soon as you’ll start petting me. I purr for myself first, then for others. It’s not egoistical, it’s a soothing strategy. I prefer to purr quietly so that you can barely hear it, or only if you are very close to me (if I let you) then you can hear it.

But usually you’ll rather feel it more than hear it. And by the way I don’t always purr only when I’m happy, I like to purr to calm myself down. As for other sounds, I’m not very vocal either, especially that my peeps really like my sounds so I shouldn’t make too much of them, then if I do, I can go a long way with them, I like to use my sounds to manipulate them and get things to be my way. But I also like to make sounds for them when I feel they need it, as a comfort for example, or to greet them, but I also try not to overuse that.

Mila is blind, which she doesn’t seem to care about but it sucks for me, because I can’t make eye contact or show her things and sometimes I have to make sounds. I sleep with her, so I have to wake her up in the morning if I want out of the room (sometimes it takes quite a bit of persuasion to get her out of bed). I often like to annoy them with meowing my lungs out when it’s very sunny, because I want out. So if I can’t get out, I get angry with them and meow just to make them annoyed. It always works. And sometimes they give up and take me out on the terrace on the leash, but that’s not the same as being wild and free.

Do you deliberately play up at times, just to annoy or worry the 2 leggeds?

Haaahahaha of course I do, I love it! I make very sad, cry-like sounds to get attention “Oh, poor Misha, what happened?!”. Sometimes it happens that when I jump from somewhere, I won’t measure the distance well enough and will fall very hard or lose balance. Nothing bad happens then or never has so far but I like to just lie still on the floor for some time for an effect so they think I’m very hurt and I often get extra treats for comfort.

Do you have a bed of your own or simply share everyone’s?

I have beds of different kinds spaced out around the house. But my sort of main bed is at Mila’s, I have a basket on her bed where I like to sleep at night since I came here, it’s a very soothing place for me. Sometimes I will lie with Mila under the duvet at night but only for a while to make her happy because I don’t like being very close, I go back to my bed when she falls asleep, or I sleep on her legs. They say it’s my only duty in this house – to sleep with Mila. – I sometimes don’t but most of the time I’m very serious about my job. During the day I can sleep pretty much anywhere, even the table in the living room is good.

Are you an early riser, or a late napper? Are you in early of an evening or a dirty stop-out?

Early riser (I’m very curious about everything so I usually get up with the first peep who gets up, or earlier, mostly between 3:50-6 in the morning), dirty-stop-out (usually go to bed last, but sometimes Mila beats me), and napping throughout the day as much as possible.

How much alone time or ‘just you’ time do you have?

There is usually someone at home, most of the time really, Mummy is a home manager as she says, and Mila is a homebody and works from home, so I’m rarely alone in this way, but I make sure I have plenty of just me time every day anyway.

Are you into the whole affection thing at all, or is it on your terms only?

Emm, I’m not really into it, but sometimes it’s OK, and I try not to be selfish and show some affection to my peeps, even if I sometimes have to force myself to it and am not entirely convinced to it.

Do you like being hugged, belly tickled and so on?

Yes, but not too much, not in every situation and not by everyone, but as I said I try to make compromises. Touch can often make me anxious and I often avoid it.

Do your 2 leggeds make you dress up?

Do you actually enjoy it or simply tolerate it because it appears to please them?

What?! Ugh, yuck! Never, I’d claw them to death!… Even though I don’t have much of my claws most of the time, never mind, I’d find a way. My Mishfur is the best clothing for me. They used to try to decorate me with ribbons or such on holidays, but I’m not a Christmas tree after all so I wasn’t up to it. And I once almost choked because of one flippin’ ribbon, it got accidentally hooked to something and I couldn’t break free. No dressing up with me.

Do you tolerate photos or do you like posing for them?

I love posing! I would love to be a model and advertise cat food. But I have to be in the mood for it.

Do you have a friendly vet?

I’m lucky enough that I’ve been very healthy so far. I only get sick from overeating once in a while, well OK regularly, and get conjunctivitis easily and then they need to get drops for me (ugh, hate it), and I was only once very badly ill last year. That being said, I don’t have much experience with vets, and I’m quite glad about it. I also don’t seem to have any vet that I’d always go to, I’ve been to a few different ones. I guess most of them were friendly, apart from the guy who removed my bits when I was little and when he met me, he thought I was a girl just because my name is Misha and then after he’d already removed my bits and my peeps came for me he told them that now I am an “it”.

I would bite him but I was too groggy and dizzy and anxious. And there was that one lady who didn’t know how to make an injection, back then when I was so badly ill. She hurt me very much, and I bit her, and then she gave me such awful, big pills that I had to take at home and that made me feel even worse when I was taking them so we never went to her again. But I guess all the other vets are cool. But I don’t like going to the vet, all the car rides and the anxiety and seeing other animals that I don’t know.

Do your 2 leggeds talk to you in meow and does it really make any sense?

Hehe, Mum used to and thought she was so cool, but she’s rubbish at meowing, and no, it never makes sense. Mum knows a bit of Russian and I’m Russian so I rather prefer her talking to me in Russian, even though she’s not great at that either. And Mila talks to me in all languages she knows. So I guess it’s better for humans to talk human, I’ll understand them better, even though they don’t know Mish language I can understand all human languages.

Do you share the household with other companions, perhaps a K9 or ‘’other’’ species? If so what are the others, or indeed the K9’s name?

There is a dozen or so of nameless and brainless aquarium fishes who are Daddy’s, I love watching them and trying to catch them. And there is a K9 living outside and his name is Jocky, he is a mongrel but looks a bit like a Havanese apparently, not that I’ve ever seen a Havanese dog, but the peeps say so.

Do you get on well with the others, or simply tolerate their presence?

I don’t care about the fishies because they are brainless. I don’t really need to get on with Jocky, but we’ve had a few brief encounters and he is very interesting to me. OK maybe not himself, he seems to be rather limited intellectually and definitely overemotional, overly impulsive and making a lot of fuss around himself, but his life is interesting, and still he seems rather nice and playful and likes me, I think I am also very interesting for him. But during those times when we’ve seen each other he always wanted to do chasing or wanted be very close with me and that made me very uncomfortable and anxious. I don’t think I get on well with others. But I especially don’t get on well with other felines.

Do your 2 leggeds insist on bathing you or do you simply say NO?

They do, but only very rarely, so I can deal with it, but I am never happy with it and always make sure they know it.

What would be your purrfect day?

Eating lots of yummy food, being free – able to go outside, catch mice, birds, insects, whatever, feel what living in the wild is all about, – be alone when I want and with others when I want and be hugged or not when I so choose, I would also like to be less afraid of everything and just have a carefree day.

Finally, in your own words tell us something about both you and your 2 leggeds that the questions haven’t touched on or asked about – something unique …

I can say that I am the cat of everyone who lives in this house, but officially I am Mila’s, and my main role is to support her. I don’t think I am the best kind of cat for emotional support especially that I am very very anxious myself but at least we can understand each other, and we are very similar in a lot of ways, not only in terms of characters. Another peculiar thing about us is that me and Mila and Zofijka like to play that Mila and me have a brain connection with each other, so that I can talk via Mila when I am connected to her. Zofijka likes to talk to me this way.

Maybe you have a Blog like me, or run your own website, or … even social media, like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram?

We share a blog – Mila and me – I sometimes post there about my life if something interesting happens. The link is:

Scrappy’s Thanks

Misha, what a fabulous interview – l can certainly see that you like to talk and you are very much your own man! Dad and l had a fun, fun, fun, funny time reading through the interview. It was a great read, and l feel absolutely certain the readers will agree! You must think seriously about perhaps penning your ‘Tails’ into a book of your own!!

I can sympathise with your plight with your peeps, but you are a Russian Blue my friend, l am not going to say you are delicate, as that would be insultive to your intelligence and integrity, but you are also a Tsar, and your peeps have your best interests at heart! Life outside is indeed exciting and adventurous, but also dangerous! Your fine coat could become damaged. I know, l know l am coming across as a sour puss and l don’t mean to, because l really don’t think l could stand it if l was constantly confined, but dad was saying he used to have a lovely British Blue called Grunt [oh please don’t ask, l don’t know either, but look at me, l am called Scrappy [typically a boys name] because l reminded dad of Scooby Doo’s side kick, who WAS a boy, and l am a girl!

Plus dad and Mummy say that now l am getting older and a bit more wobbly, they watch me like a hawk, in case and to quote dad, l fall over my own shadow! I mean who ever does that?? Stupid thing to say!!

I would have loved the name Gertrude or Gerty, but l am called Scrappy, l have gotten used to it now, but no WAY would l have ever wished to be called …. Grunt! Do you know why they called him Grunt Misha?? Think of your own surname – now l would say that yes that is how you sound, some [my dad] might interpret that noise as a ……. wait for it …….. yes you guessed it Misha – a grunt??!

I know, go figure!!

You did make me laugh with the brainless fish and unintellectual Jocky … ha ha, l am still bolling thinking back on that comment!! But once more, l can sympathise, l am a smart cookie too and the lengths l have to go to, to just prove that l am perfectly capable of doing all sorts of things by myself should be banned!

But hey, what can we do? We are loved, secured, kept safe, fed well and well, above everything the ‘peeps’ and ‘my 2 leggeds – well they entertain me, so a few compromises here and there in the tolerance department and l am a Happy Scrappy which is way better than Scrapster – it just gives folks the wrong vibe about me, you know?

Anyway, just finishing off Misha, we love your interview a lot lot! So my thanks to you, your Mum, Dad, Mila, Olek and the monster Zofijka, and of course we mustn’t forget the brainless fish, who will forget anyway, 12 seconds later apparently!! Wow, that ‘s serious short term memory, nearly as bad as dads!

I am sure that the readership will also pop along to see and read you and Mila on your blog  My Inner MishMash

Thank you all, again.

  1. Hhrrru? Scrappy! 😻
Thanks a lot for featuring me! It was a purre pleasure for me to pawticipate. Yes, I would love to write a book, and my plan is to become a feline celebrity!
You are actually right, that’s what my peeps say, that I am too precious to be let outside, and that a tsar needs protection, you never know when they’ll finally decide they need me in Russia. And while I would really like to experience some life in the wild, I think I am actually lucky I have my peeps who love me and spoil me, and protect me so much, and I am capable of some comrpomises in return I think. I’m very happy you and your dad enjoyed my interview. 🙂
    Mish 💜
