1] Blog Name

Therapy Bits!

2] What is your blog’s specific genre?

Its a mental health blog first and foremost, but I also blog about daily life, post quotes, recipes etc on it.

3] How old is your Blog?

I started blogging in 2012. I had one blog until 2015 when I abandoned it and moved to a new site, and so I suppose you could say I’ve blogged for 7 years, but have moved around a bit and finally settled on wordpress.

4] Why did you feel the need to start an actual blog?

I wanted to raise awareness of did and of mental illness in general. When I started blogging there werent many bloggers writing about dissociation, or dissociative identity disorder.

5] What age were you when you first started to write?

I wrote a journal when I was a teen. I also wrote poems. I journaled online back in the early 2000’s on diary x and diaryland. I guess I was 18 when I started writing seriously.

6] Was it a natural process or did something or someone inspire you to put your first thoughts to paper?

I wrote to help me cope with the abuse I was enduring, I wrote stories, to escape, and I wrote my journal to get my thoughts about what was happening to me out.

7] Would you say that your creativity flows easily or do you need to be motivated by an event or a moment in your life to trigger it?

I would say it depends on my mood. If I am in the mood then it flows, but sometimes I need a topic to write on or think about before I can create something.

8] How frequent or prolific are you with your writing and blogging?

I blog every day. Sometimes more than once or twice in the day. If I have something to say I write. I also post quotes, recipes etc so somteimes if I have nothing to write about then I will post those.

9] Is it just WordPress that your writing is displayed or other platforms as well?

I have facebook, and twitter although I dont tweet often, I use facebook some but I mainly use WordPress and check it most often.

10] Do you use social media to advertise and market your blog? If so which ones and how effective is it/are they?

I dont advertise or market my blog. I tried posting ads on facebook but they weren’t that effective so I gave up. I didnt want to keep wasting money on them.

11] Writers block we all get it at one point or another – if you do suffer from it, how do you tackle the problem?

As I said I just post quotes, and try to write my thoughts after them, or I will post a recipe, or something anything to keep the blog going!

12] Which is your preferred writing/creative style?

I like writing diary type posts. About what is happening in my life. Sometimes I also write poetry too though.

13] What is the best thing about blogging in your eyes?

The sense of community it brings. The blogging community are awesome! They’ve been a very supportive bunch to me. I also enjoy the release that writing brings me.

14] What prompts you to write about a topic on the day that you post?

I mainly write journal type entries, I dont write on topics in the media, but if I do, or if I have a certain topic in mind, its usually because either something has happened to me to make me think about that, or else I am angered by a topic or just want to rant on whatever it is.

15] What advice would you award new bloggers to help and encourage them promote their blog and engage with their audience?

Respond to your comments. There is nothing worse than when I take the time to comment on something and the blogger doesnt bother to respond or acknowledge my comment. I also think liking a post is good, shows you’ve read it and I also feel if you can, maybe advertise your blog, it wasn’t for me but maybe it would be helpful to some people.

16] Do you have an overall blogging strategy or simply write because you enjoy writing?

I write because I enjoy it. I dont have a strategy. Sometimes I will schedule posts though. If I am pushed for time and still want to write.

17] Do you feel it is important to have an engaging audience to the content that you write?

Yes. I feel the audience is important. I feel engagement is very important. Its nice to have an audience who can relate to you.

18] If no one ever commented on your blog would this concern you, and if so how would you rectify the situation?

It would. I’d feel I am talking to thin air. I would be bothered if nobody ever commented. I guess what I’d do in that situation is pose questions, to try and illicit comments from others.

19] How long from start to finish would/can your content take you to complete?

From 5 minutes to an hour even more sometimes. I rarely put posts in draft though. I always work on them and then publish them.

20] Which do you think are your best 3 posts to date? Please link below so that our readers can see your style and take a step into your world.

Oh I cant, sorry. I am not sure how to get the links to posts, or which posts I’d choose. What I suggest you do is check out my blog to find out more!

21] Finally, what advice would you offer new writers to the blogging community?

Be yourself, be honest, be real!

My thanks to Carol Anne, for taking the time out to answer the Truly Inspired questions. I think Carol Anne’s final six words are the most appropriate with regards advice for new bloggers and writers .. “Be yourself, be honest, be real!”

That is the optimum advice, but of course as she discusses earlier on, commenting on another blogs and other blogger’s work is also an exceptional way of ensuring that the community opens up to you.

Sometimes the simple things in life such as a like, can make your day, it means you are not merely writing to thin air or banging your head against a brick wall, but it does make you feel and believe that you have reached out and achieved that sense of resonation with another person.
