The Versatile Blogger Award

The Versatile Blogger Award –  VBA

My sincere and genuine thanks to Beckie of Beckie’s Mental Mess for her gifting of this award to me. If you are not yet familiar with Beckie’s Blog, her style or her writing then please do make sure that you pop over and check her out.

Award Guidelines

If you are gifted, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger Award.

Thank the person who gave you this award.

Include a link to their blog.

Gift and notify 3 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award  that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.

Finally, tell the person who gifted you 5 things about yourself.

My Notes

l will gift a total of three writers/bloggers.

l have opted to handle these awards differently – this is not meant to be seen, read or interpreted as derrogative towards the creators of these awards themselves as that is not my intention.

I no longer use the term nomination, l only use the term ‘gifting’, this is because these awards are not nominations, but stand alone awards.

You are under no obligation to respond, there is no need to further gift the VBA out to others should you not wish to. Please simply accept my gift to you as the compliment it is.

What is the Versatile Blogger Award?

The VBA principally is about supporting other bloggers, it’s about community and if nothing else – we can all agree that WordPress is about community, about the freedom to express ourselves through our craft, our skill and our talent.

When you consider gifting a fellow blogger for the Versatile Blogger Award, consider the quality of the writing, the uniqueness of the subjects covered, the level of love displayed in the words on the virtual page. Or, of course, the quality of the photographs and the level of love displayed in the taking of them.

Honour those bloggers who bring something special to your life whether every day or only now and then.

My Take

I happen to like this particular award a lot, l like the concept and what it stands for – my interpretation of the term versatile means diversity, neurodiversity, variety, resourceful, adaptable and flexible and generally all rounded. But furthermore l see it with not just the blog, but more importantly with the writers themselves and with that criteria, that is how l decided to gift this award out.

5 Things About Me

I am working on a new project for 2019 and my blog which will be both impactive and community orientated.

Fandango says my i’s and l’s are squiffy, are they? BUT, more importantly can someone PLEASE explain what the problem is?? Because l genuinely don’t know what l am doing wrong and l am starting to develop a complex about it.

I like to ask lots of questions.

I like posts that have a bit of both depth and bite to them.

I am thinking of introducing to my blog during the course of 2019 Podcast episodes and Vlogging episodes which is very bold of me, as l am quite reserved.

I am gifting the VBA to the following bloggers….

Tanvir of Beauty Lies Within Yourself

Cyranny of Cyranny’s Cove

Suzanne of Ellie894

    1. But what is it that everyone is seeing Ribana – because unless someone produces a screen shot of what they are seeing, l can’t see it, so am still none the wiser with his comment??

What is it you are seeing Ribana?

  1. I love your vision of what this award means and how the awards themselves are a gift. It’s so true. I’ve thought of it often myself but you’ve made a really wonderful phrasing of it all. And your own thoughts on this gift make it even more meaningful. With very kind thanks 🙏😊🎶

    1. Hey Suzanne – yes l like the way l present them now, l know that may across as pompous it’s not meant to read that way – it’s just that the old style had/has too many expectations to it – ‘nominate’, 11 other bloggers, write 7 things about yourself and all the other trimmings.

I found l couldn’t keep obliging because a lot of veteran bloggers were not wishing to engage with them, and long term bloggers are still worthy of these awards but the awards were still treating the recipients as id they were/are new bloggers and that’s not on.

So by just making them slightly less hostile and overwhelming smaller changes makes them a little bit more interesting and manageable.

I prefer the term ‘gifting and compliment’ because that is in essence what the awards are really saying, but nominating l guess has more draw to it, nope not for me, l think it’s off-putting.

I am glad you liked it and once again my pleasure was to gift you in the first place.

So thank you for accepting it 🙂

      1. Morning Rory 😊

To the contrary! I don’t think it sounds pompous at all. To me it speaks of your thoughtfulness and makes the awards what they truly are, a gift of kindness.

I have always felt these awards are a beautiful part of the WordPress community. We may each come here to write but once we arrive there is so much more.

I am humbled and honored by each like and comment offered and awards are an extension of that same thought. I think it’s wonderful the way you’ve simply put that into words, a gift and a compliment.

With warm thanks to you and cheers to a thoughtful and full of fun writer and friend 😊

  2. Let’s see…five things about me…

Although I mostly write of my pups, I also have one small calico cat named Miss Fred.

I am oddly Not afraid of snakes. But, roaches, the mammoth Texas flying ones…they terrify me!

My birthday is in early November and has fallen on the day of a presidential election more than once.

    I love to clean closets!

I came to WordPress to write but I have received so many good things in return that I never expected. It has been a beautiful journey and I’m very grateful. 😊🌷

    Ta Da!! Thank you!
