What helps you …

What helps you … to be continually creative, inventive or imaginative with your blog?

What inspires and motivates you?

I don’t class myself as creative, we have discussed this before and l have said the same – l prefer to use the phrases, ‘imaginative and inventive’ and yet some would say l am creative, well each to their own. How you personally interpret the asking of this question is entirely down to you. We shall the use word ”creativity” here for ease of recognition and understanding.

Most of my own content is poetry and true story, so l am not having to specifically rely on ‘creativity’ , but memory or emotion and how l am or was feeling at the time when a piece was written. So in my eyes there is nothing special about a recollection, if anything it comes down to how l express those emotions or events with my choice of words and my writing and presentation style. I prefer to write across a range of subjects and topics because l love diversity, but as diverse as my blog is, it could be more so.

With the games, and quizzes and challenges, l suppose if anything that is where the ‘creativity’ might step on board, but as it’s not ”artsy” as l define it, and more intellectual as in a methodical approach to being inventive, l again struggle with how people see me as being creative if that makes for sense?

The fiction l have of my own, is very slim and l will increase that this year, although l am currently displaying a fiction of sorts with the writings of my Father – but that is merely a series by another writer that l present to my readership as an alternative to what l write personally. It just adds a bit more difference in the way of content.

But someone asked me the other day, how l keep on coming up with ideas for my blog and l could only answer in the truth … literally it is what pops into my head at the time and l will research it a bit, perhaps run a trial, see if that achieves a popular response and if so, then run with that for a season or two. That’s not being creative – not in my eyes anyway.

For me, it is always whatever sparks my imagination at the time – it will either work or it will not work, and mostly because l get a kick out of it. My mind loves loads of stimulation, so l stimulate it and if others are mentally stimulated at the same time, well when blogging – that’s a bonus, isn’t it?

But what about you? What helps to spark off your own creative imagination and inventiveness with your blog? What motivate or inspires you to put content  in and keep putting it in? Where do you go to get that ignition for your blog content? What lights your fire? Perhaps more importantly, do you consider your blog to be creative or similiar to mine as in inventive and imaginative?

Let me know in the comments section below.

Thanks Rory

  1. I’m inwardly focused, living in my head, constantly creating fictional worlds of characters and situations. Some are temporary and some ongoing. That’s my claim to creativity in writing and what I share via the prompts and such. Occasionally I’ll throw in something personal, but that stuff is boring and more for my own therapy and catharsis. I am not good at coming up with interesting questions and interactive games to engage with fellow bloggers, though I appreciate people who do that, like you. It’s absolutely creative!

  2. My writing is both responsive and comes from my mind. I respond to questions, Challenges and write from my imagination. There are some topics which are close to me and I write on them with a lot of thought and effort.

  3. I think I try keeping my blog personable. When I write about mental health, I usually tend to write from my own experiences. I don’t get all fancy with technical stuff, I want the reader to be able to relate.
As far as my creative side. I either find a picture to provoke the creative side of me. Or, I also write freely about an experience and write from my heart.
I like to challenge myself when I write poetry. That is something I’ve become more passionate about since I started my blog back in 2016.

  4. Even though lately I’m not participating, the Daily Prompts help me stay creative. They give me ideas and motivation. I’m hoping to get back to doing them too, but the “Season of Incredible Pain” is upon us and I just cannot think clearly when my legs are screaming at me. My bad.

  5. Reality is stranger than fiction…and so is my life. I’m the eternal optimist and love a good laugh. I think this is my creativity. Using words to make a good story out of an event or thought.
My blog invites the reader to sit down and have a chat and a couple of laughs. I think it mostly succeeds in that.

I’m not sure how “creative” I am. I read and watch the news and I write about my personal perspectives. I see prompts (words, photos) and write about what they bring to mind. I respond to questions. I observe and I write

Same as above. But it’s the feedback, the comments, the interactions that motivate me to continue.
