Grr! 610 WTF?!!

Yesterday l cleared my spam folder, it had 74 useless fricking messages about fricking nothing! Left by spammers.

I have just looked and l have 610 bloody spam messages since yesterday

I am a pretty patient sort of chap, but this is taking the urine big time! I am guessing this is the work of an automated bot??

Is there anyway, that anyone knows that l can bulk delete loads of useless spam messages?? I am on a premium plan, so l don’t think l have the ability to cease these unless l go business plan, but any ideas?  Otherwise l have to delete by hand in the singles   🙁

My OCD is going nuts!!

  1. Open your spam messages and click bulk edit. There is a square box on the top. Click that and all displayed messages are selected. Press delete/ dustbin logo. This will delete 20 messages at one go. You will have to do it 31 times but won’t take you long. A couple of minutes.

    1. thank you for that Sadje, l didn’t even see the square box at the top until l read your message – l was thinking 2 minutes?? Are you out of your mind. Then l saw that box – kudos to you with thanks 🙂

      1. You’re welcome. I read your post and went and opened my comments. I had 61, it took me 30 secs to delete them. If they are like 20-30, I Block the sender first and then delete the comments.

          1. When you see a spam comment, there is a user info icon in the upper right side corner ( right as in your right hand side). Click on that and you will see the email address of the spammer. There is an option of blocking this , do that and than delete the comment. You will have to wait for them to comment again, so that you block them before deleting. These people are not following you. They are spammers. Doing it for some unknown reason.

      it’s really annoying, l empty this thing each and every day, and the most l have had before today was Monday’s 100. But this sniper has come in at 12 hours ago and left 610 in the space of 6 hours all over my blog on this crap!

      now l could understand if l had entered a hashtag anywhere that made reference to CBD oil, but as l haven’t this twit best be thankful he/she is nowhere near me as l would lose it big time.

      The bulk button’s a real help, but l still have to tick those 20 boxes to actually list them ready for delete 🙂

  3. Wow, that’s a lot! I’ve actually been getting fewer than usual lately. The bulk edit button lets you get rid of 20 at a time, but it can still take a while when you’ve got hundreds to delete.

  4. jesus rory 610 fuck! that’s a shit ton! I had 270 yesterday but that was from a few weeks worth now I’d better go check mine!

    1. Hey Lisa, exactly, but l have learned lot of new things today, that are now etched firmly in my brain lol!

      Bulk edit, bulk delete and block!

  8. I had a load of ‘sexy.com’ type spam so sent such messages direct to spam
    You probably already know how, but
    dashboard, settings, discussion, comment blacklist.
    OK, you can only update your list one at a time, but by using key words it dumps them all, or at least most of them. If you have their ip address you can copy/paste that into your black list.
    As for deletion, I scan them quickly and then hit the ’empty spam’ button and it dumps the lot. Same goes for whatever’s in trash.
    Any help?

    2. Have just this minute looked in spam and l have a fresh 120, l blocked a load, but if they are RNG then there is no way l can keep up with that. [RNG – random number generated] But now it’s almost like they are doing it deliberately!

    1. It seems an annoyance to receive any in the first place in truth, l am currently debating the pro’s and cons of moving from premium plan to business plan to see if that makes a difference to how l can cease spam altogether.
