Sunshine Blogger Award 11,12,13

I have opted to write up these awards differently from the usual routine of acceptance based on my post of  And The Award Goes To … The Sequel  as well as this post here  Isn’t It Lovely: Understanding Blog Awards.

Therefore from this point on l choose to accept them as gifts awarded to me by another blogger and treat them as the compliment they are.

Rory Matier

My thanks to the following bloggers for their gifts…

Belle of Wondering Belle’s Blog

Kristian of Tales from the mind of Kristian

Kristian of Tales from the mind of Kristian

First my appologies to both Belle and Kristian, for being somewhat tardy in my response to your gift.

If you are not yet familiar with either Belle’s or Kristian’s blogs, and l would be somewhat surprised to hear that, then my advice is to trot over there and take a peaksee. Both are lovely people and writers and bloggers alike, whom share with their readerships a plethora of wonderful musings, stories, poetry, thoughts and opinions on life and a host of other topics. Trust me when l say, you really will not be disappointed with stopping in to say howdy.

What is the Sunshine Blogger Award?

Answer the Questions

As l am working this to my current guidelines, l will only ask 5 questions of those l gift to but will answer the questions asked of me by Belle and Kristian whom both worked with the old and actual Award guidelines.

What makes you the happiest about your blog?

I suppose it’s a sense of achievement and accomplishment at being able to express myself to my readership.

What is your all-time top goal?

Rather nerdishly l don’t tend to have an all-time top goal, getting through life is one piece is the closest.

What is one thing on your bucket list?

Strangely l don’t have a bucket list, l never really have, there are things l would like to do of course, however l do tend to take each day one day at a time.

Where would you suggest someone go visit?

I would simply say the world is your oyster.

What do you think would make a difference to this world?

A complete and utter lack of people.

What is a hobby you wish you had more time to enjoy?

More time to read other blogs.

What is your favorite song right now?

I don’t have a favourite song.

What would you like others to know about you?

The question might be, what don’t they know about me and then we can take it from there.

Have you ever written a book? What is the name of that book if so?

Yes and no. I had a self-published book created called Dancing in the Grey which was about my life with with Asperger’s through the eyes of an elder diagnosis.

What is one thing that would make you happy right now?

Getting my bloody shoulder repaired quickly.

List 5 things you love.

Suze, Scrappy, sex, a good bowel movement and a solid night’s sleep.

My thanks to Belle for her questions.

What will you be eating on the 25th of December?

Somewhat later as a response, however we enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner of turkey and vegetables.

What would you like to see happen in 2019?

A bit more positivity in the world.

Name three things you are grateful for.

Sun, coffee and humour.

My thanks to Kristian for his questions.

If you knew someone who had given up on reading, what book would you give them to get them interested?

I think that is pretty profound as a question. I think instead of a book, l would like to know why they have given up on reading in the first place, because once we find that out, a book might not be the answer. Perhaps their eyes are playing havoc in which case, they would need an eye test or perhaps there is something else amiss. Perhaps they are experiencing sleep problems, or maybe they have very little quality time to spare reading, maybe they read all day in their job and the last thing they want is even more words. I think we would need to establish the issue first.

What do you consider one of your character flaws?

I have so many l wouldn’t quite know where to begin, however if l was to look here in WP, l would say l am greatly lacking in being an all rounder blogger, in so far as l cannot get the balance right to writing and reading other blogs and commenting. This l regard as an appalling flaw of mine. It matters not what people tell me, l feel so bad about it at times, and so terribly selfish, that l have actually considered stopping blogging altogther and that is a fact.

What is the last song you listened to before reading this?

This …

What would you like people to know about you, that may not be obvious?

Not bothered in truth, what don’t they know about me? If they want to know something, then all they need do is ask, l am an open book.

What impression would you like to leave people with?

I think that comes down to the people involved surely? I have upset people in the past just by looking at them, hell l even upset a lady once just by smiling at her – as to impression, l cannot interpret how someone might feel with me. Perhaps that l am not deliberately rude and that at times, l sadly say things just as they are.

If you had to sing something in public, what song would you choose?

Well l wouldn’t, it’s not a skill set of mine, and so l wouldn’t do it. If l was forced, they would find out about truly effective mutism.

Name a book that you are intending to read, at some point.

Stephen Leather’s Hot Blood.

Do you have a favourite artist/painter, who are they?

Nope, afraid not.

What subject that isn’t normally taught in schools, do you think should be?

Realistic finances.

Do you have a pet? What animal is it, or what animal would you like to have?

Well as you know l have a beautiful dog by the name of Scrappy whom is more of a companion than a pet and is Kelpie x Staff, or better known as an Australian Sheep dog crossed with a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

You wake up at 2am and can’t sleep. What do you do?

I went to bed, in truth. I actually went to bed at 2.37am this morning. I tend to go to bed these days when l am dead on my feet and the usual time in 2-3am for retiring and then l awaken at 7am.

My thanks to Kristian for his questions.

My 5 Questions

You know in the movies when the victims are being chased by the terrible nasty and they hit them, and think they are dead, but look back and discover the body gone?? If this was YOU how would you ensure the thing stays dead?

Have you ever tried sneezing with your eyes open? Why not?

Do you have any unusual party tricks?

Name 5 things you can do with hot wax?

Name 5 things you should never do when drunk and disorderly and if you have never been in that state then name 5 things you would do if you were?

  1. Fantastic Mr. M. Your answers were a wonderful eclectic mix of frivolity but also some very deep answers. I particularly like your answer where you say about juggling writing and reading other blogs. I feel exactly the same way. I had at one point 8000 unread e-mails and I despaired. I do not have the time to read all the blogs and comment as much as I’d like either. Please Don’t give Up blogging though.

    1. Hey Mr K – many thanks, second lot of questions from you were eclectic ones that inspired the answers 🙂

I do know how you feel. The emails at one point l had so many spread across three email accounts l simply had to switch off notifications, which is how l roll now, and then purely work as best as l can.

Getting the balance right is really awful and l feel guilty most days, not being a drama llama either, it’s just at times so overwhelming. I think if you may write one or two posts as a blogger then you have a bigger chance to read more, but then you are stifling yourself and your outlet for writing.

These days l tend to visit weekly three bloggers at a time read half dozen posts from each thoroughly, like or comment and then move onto the next.

But it’s a real strain at times.

  2. A masterful handling of the award posts. I like how you have reduced the questions and the people who you pass on the award. More doable and sensible. Congratulations on your awards. You deserve all and more.

    1. Thanks Sadje, l found that second post at the top that l have linked really helpful as well which explains blog awards and thought, yeah this is the way to go.

I think by greatly reducing the questions and the gifting down to 5 and 3, it gives the gift more value, and makes it so much easier to manage and answer.

It’s the only way l will do them now, and it is much fairer to those who receive them, whilst still not besmirching the creators of the Awards themselves.
