Neil Diamond is one of my all time favourites, l grew up with his music in my head.

Neil Leslie Diamond (born January 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter, musician and actor. With 38 songs in the Top 10 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts, Diamond has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. On the Hot 100 and Adult Contemporary charts, he has had ten No. 1 singles: “Cracklin’ Rosie”, “Song Sung Blue”, “Longfellow Serenade”, “I’ve Been This Way Before”, “If You Know What I Mean”, “Desiree”, “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”, “America”, “Yesterday’s Songs”, and “Heartlight”.

Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984 and into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. Additionally, he received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000 and in 2011 was an honoree at Kennedy Center. In 2018, Diamond received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

  1. I also grew up with Neil Diamon’s music. My mother played his records constantly. I liked it. A few years later while in Los Angeles, I met him at an Italian restaurant near UCLA University. He was right next to me. He was barely an inch taller then me. I would not have recognized him if someone did not mention his name. I smiled at him and thanked him for agreeing to come and celebrate my birthday. He laughed and asked if it was really my birthday. I replied that it sure felt like it! He went to his lunch meeting and I enjoyed my meal but could not help thinking that my mother would have loved to be in my shoes…

    1. I have actually, released a few years back l think. ND is my own choice, hence why l am being somewhat selfish and displaying 40 of his best over 4 days. I have seen him in concert several times and l remember seeing him live in London many, many years ago when l was around 15 and standing up and clapping and singing with the rest of the audience 🙂
