Princess Diamond the Hunydog
A] Personal Details
1] Your Name?
“Princess Diamond the Hunydog.”
2] What do you call your 2-leggeds?
“She Who MUST Be Obeyed or There’s a Lot of Shouting (SWMBO for short..two leg works for me too).”
3] What K9 Breed are you?
4] How Old Are You?
“11 years last month.”
5] Do you live inside or outside and more importantly – do you run your household?
“Inside, with frequent visits outside, and of course I do! I’m a PRINCESS. I rule accordingly.”
6] Where abouts in the world do you live?
“United States in a dry and hot place (right now, it also gets very cold and snowy) called Utah.”
B] Exercise/Play Time/Adventuring
7] How often do you take your 2 leggeds for a walk?
“As often as I can, but SWMBO is cranky and slow and I don’t often get to ‘walk’. The big backyard I have makes up for it though. Sort of. I love to go for walks”
8] Do you do lots of adventuring when out and about?
“Yes I do. And there’s lots of shouting because sometimes the smell mail trails are so interesting, I forget to do that thing two legs LIKE called “COME!” “Or HUNYDOG COME HERE!” Hoomins don’t ‘get’ smell mail at all really.”
9] Do your 2 leggeds allow you to talk to other K9’s on your walks or do they huff and puff behind you and urge you to hurry along?
“My two leg usually picks me up, which irritates me. I want to talk to the other canines, but sometimes I also want to bite them. I guess my 2 leg is careful. And my two leg? Is a huge huffer and puffer, and never keeps up with me.”
10] Are you allowed to do ‘stuff’ on your walks freely? Do you walk off or on lead?
“I’m allowed to do stuff. Sometimes my two leg picks it up though and brings it back home and puts it in that bin where all the interesting smelling stuff goes. She keeps me on a lead, except when I escape. Then I roam and roam and get all that loud yelling again.”
11] Have your 2 leggeds ever embarrassed you? If so how?
“Oh yes. Two legs are clumsy and do not often understand canine etiquette very well. She picks me up too, just when I find an interesting bum to sniff or someone’s shoe that smells inviting. And she’s always telling me to “get down”, which is highly embarrassing. How can someone see my absolute cuteness if I’m “down” all the time?”
12] Do your 2 leggeds expect you to fetch the ball/toy every time during soft/hard play?
“Yes. But I’m finicky and only fetch when I want to play. Otherwise I turn around and just walk away. Gets the point across very well.”
13] Do you have favourite toys and if so, what are they?
“I have the sheepskin man and the duck, and a fox and a skunk….today my two leg got a new squeaky bone for me, but I didn’t find it very interesting. The duck has feathers and is fun to grab in my mouth and run around squeeking with.”
14] Are you a very much loved K9?
“Very much. I’m an only dog, but I’ve had many companions over the years. I think my two leg misses them too. Toro was my last companion but he went to Rainbow Bridge a few years back ‘cos he was sick. I don’t miss them all too much though, because more belly rubs just for me!”
15] Do your 2 leggeds take you away on holidays with them?
“As often as possible, but you might (or might not) be surprised how picky people are. Especially those at those hotel places where the two legs have to stop and rest if they go on holiday. Some even say I can’t stay there and I’m ROYAL! I mean the nerve!”
16] Are you given treats? What are your favourites?
“I’m very spoiled and get a LOT of treats. My favorite is probably boiled chicken, but I enjoy sausage or bacon or ham just as much. And for chewy treats? Pup-a-roni. I only get that on special occasions though.”
17] Are you fed a nutritional diet and is your food moist or dry or both or even the raw meat diet?
“My two leg gives me dry…it’s supposed to be good for my digestion and my teeth. I had some bad teeth last year and had to go to that place that smells bad, and where they subject a dog to embarrassing and sometimes painful things like sticking something in your bum or poking you with needles. I pooped on their floor to show my displeasure. But I still had to stay there overnight because they pulled three teeth. My two leg got upset, and now I eat mostly kibble. “
18] Are you allowed to sample your 2 leggeds food?
“Oh yes. I take a very healthy interest in my two legged’s food. She has much better food than I do in my opinion!”
D] Your Personal K9 Stuff
19] Do you have a favourite piece of 2 legged clothing and if so, do they know?
“Yes. I like to roll around on her towels and growl and look silly. I like getting my smell on it you see. Of course she always throws them in the washer and then I just have to do it all over again.”
20] Do you deliberately play up at times, just to annoy or worry the 2 leggeds?
“Yes. My favorite is to stare into the dark hall and growl, really low in my throat. It gets her every time.”
21] Do you have a bed or a favourite sleeping place?
“I sleep next to my hoomin. She’s like a big hot water bottle.”
22] Are you always with your 2-leggeds or do you sometimes need ‘Time out?’
“I spend as much time with my two leg as possible. Of course now and then I go into the den and curl up on a towel or my sheepskin and sleep.”
23] Do your 2 leggeds make you ‘dress up?’ If so, when or what for and do you enjoy it?
“No. She has tried, and I got mad and ran under the bed and was so mad I wouldn’t come out. When I did, I had chewed the thing to rags. She didn’t try to put clothes on me again.”
24] Are you photogenic or make them run after you to capture you on film?
“Mm, it depends. I can be a bit moody…”
25] Do you have a friendly vet?
“I have one I like best, but she works in that place that smells bad that I told you about. I don’t like that place at all.”
26] What would be your pawfect day?
“If my hoomin spends the whole day with me, and feeds me treats and rubs my tummy. Then we go for a walk and she snuggles down with me. That day is absolute PAWFECTION!”
Finally, in your own words tell us something about both you and your 2 leggeds that the questions haven’t touched on or asked about – something unique …
“My two leg is something called a widow. I don’t know what that is exactly .. it doesn’t translate to dog-ese very well .. but it’s something to do with the Man Who Had To Be Obeyed’s going to the hoomin version of Rainbow Bridge I guess.
“She looks sad sometimes when she sees his picture, and I do my best to cheer her up by licking her face or acting cute so she won’t be sad. We live in a little town in America, in a place called “Utah” My two leg stays home with me most of the time…she used to go to something called a ‘job’, which I suppose is like my parameter monitoring, but then the Man got sick and she doesn’t go to any jobs any more.”
“She is sort of old for a two leg, although not as much as me … I’m 77 in their kind of years I guess, she’s only 58. She has a thing called ‘disability’ now which means she gets to spend a lot of time with me! I think it’s a very great thing this disability. Even if my two legs moans about pain sometimes. I think I’ve barked on long enough. Thank you Ms. Scrappy Doodlepip for this opportunity to chat. It’s been lovely.”
My special thanks to Princess Diamond the Hunydog aka Huny and her SWMBO 2 legged Hoomin for taking pawt in our K9 interview and telling us all about life at home. You did make me bark out loud Huny with your snippet of low growling into the dark hall, l do a similiar thing that always gets Mummy going … and that is to simply stare at empty spaces. Dad just says ‘l am seeing the household ghost again’, and takes it in his stride but Mummy, oh mawahahaha every time, every time – but what is the truth Huny? well little one we know don’t we?
Thank you again Huny and remember Power to the Bark!
Now if anyone wants to catch up with more adventures and tail from Huny and of course 2 legged hoomin then do make sure to check out the blog of Princess Diamond the Hunydog and Melanie B Cee.
Hope you enjoyed reading … Tootle Pip from Doodlepip!
Also l have now introduced a new series called K9 Product Review Interviews in case some of you might like to tell us about something that you do – be this crafty hobbys or past times and activities or even a business for we K9rs and Feline Katz.
Dad and l are currently in discussions about vocalising these interviews in the future, so that is something l am quite keen to explore further.
Now l know that many of you must have K9’s equally as much as Feline Katz – isn’t it time you let them have their say and take our number to 49!
Is 49 You? But if you are feeling shy, perhaps you are number 50?
