A] Personal Details

1] Your Name?

“Pip. Older Family Girl named me after a Dickens character, Philip Pirrip or “Pip”. It’s a nickname. My proper name is seldom used and few outside my Family know it. To my doggie ears, “Pip” sounds like “Sit!”, so I sometimes do that when I’m called.”

2] Your 2 Leggeds Names?

“Family Mum and Dad, Older and Younger Family Girls. There are others, too, like Family Uncle, who is a vet, and Family Granny and Nanna.”

3] What K9 Breed are you?

“Golden Retriever. But I’m in the water so often people say I’m a Dog Fish!”

4] How Old Are You?

“I don’t know, as I can only count to three and I am older than that. My birthday is in July.”

5] Do you run your household?

“My pack? Of course! I like to keep them all together, but some of them go out each day so my job can be difficult.”

pip2

6] Do you live inside or outside the house?

“Inside. There are places dogs aren’t allowed, like the new sofa. I ignore that and they soon forget.”

7] Where about in the world do you live?

16cogg

“In Great Britain. My geography is poor, but some dogs tweet about places my family or I know. I love their adventures.”

pip16

B] Exercise/Play Time/Adventuring

pip11

8] How often do you take your 2 leggeds for a walk?

“I don’t want to be rude, but Family Dad needs the exercise more than I do!”

9] Do you vary the walks or trek the same route every day?

“All different places. I take the Family to places they don’t know and they have lived here most of their lives! We live near the country, so we have great walks.”

10] Do your 2 leggeds allow you to talk to other K9’s on your walks or do they huff and puff behind you and urge you to hurry along?

pip13

“I meet many dogs. The two legs “gossip” in the park while we dogs do zoomies. Sometimes I remind them we are on a “walk” and insist they stop “chatting” and move on!”

11] Are you allowed to do ‘stuff’ on your walks freely?

DgOVTS2WsAIj2vH.jpg large

“Yap! Pond diving and rolling to dry off on the ground (which Younger Family Girl calls “nature’s towel”).”

12] Have your 2 leggeds ever embarrassed you? If so how?

pip3

“They follow me with little bags! I make life difficult by doing “jobbies” up steep banks, under prickly bushes or in stinging nettles. Such fun!!”

13] Do your 2 leggeds expect you to fetch the ball/toy every time during soft/hard play?

DgYBN73X0AAtfA1.jpg large

“I find a stick and drop it on a foot so the person will throw it. I am a retriever and do “what it says on the tin”. Again and again and again. Until their arms ache. I am confused by balls. Footballers and golfers seem a little ungrateful when I bring their balls back. *

*          Do you have favourite toys and if so what are they?

pip6

“As I can only count to three, I lose toys if I have more than that. Our local fox and her cubs have, therefore, taken most of my toys. I currently have Duckie, Phezzie and a rope knot.”

pip9

14] Are you loved every day? Fussed over? Tickled? Cuddled? Played with? Made to feel special?

“People love Golden Retrievers. They stop me in the street to stroke me! One older lady cried recently, as I look like a dog she lost during “The War”. Brought a tear to my eye, too.”

15] Do your 2 leggeds take you away on holidays with them?

“Younger Family Girl insists! I have never been to what doggie chums call “the kennels.”

C] Eating/Food/Treats

pip10

17] Are you given treats? Too few or just right? What are your favourites?

pip14

“I don’t really have treats. Family Granny has them and I eat them as I don’t want to hurt her feelings.”

18] Are you fed a nutritional diet?

“Family Uncle, the vet, specialises in animal nutrition. He advises fresh raw meat, plus some bone and vegetable – it’s what we dogs would eat in the wild. He says poor diet and bad pet food cause much of the illness he treats and, therefore, costs owners a lot of money.”

19] Is your food moist or dry or both or even the raw meat diet?

“Mainly fresh raw chicken wings and lamb or beef bones, which the local butcher gives me, plus some kibble. I can’t have chicken bones, except the soft ones in uncooked wings. My diet makes me feel good and my fur shines. However, my diet will not be right for other dogs. Family Brother says ALWAYS ask a vet before adopting diet like mine.”

20] Do you enjoy it or is it boring?

pip15

“Love it! I sometimes take food to my favourite spot in the garden and eat it there.”

21] Do you eat it every day, or sometimes refuse to?

“I usually save some for later, rather than ‘wolfing’ it down. Why do humans think wolves have bad feeding manners?”

22] Are you allowed to sample your 2 leggeds food?

“I stare patiently at their plates. They often get full, so I help them out. Very considerate, don’t you think?”

23] Do you eat your food when you are expected to, or when you wish to?

“When doggie friends call, they go straight to my bowl to see what I’m saving for later. I hate to say it, but even my best pals “behave like wolves” when they see my bowl.”

D] Your Personal K9 Stuff

pip4

24] Do you have a favourite piece of 2 legged clothing and if so, do they know?

“I don’t dress up!”

25] Go on be a Devil – tell us what it is ….?

“The ONLY exception is lovely Younger Family Girl’s annual Christmas picture. Oh, and I once wore a straw hat for Wimbledon.”

26] Do you deliberately play up at times, just to annoy or worry the 2 leggeds?

“Never thought of that, but now you mention it, I might try…”

27] Do you have a bed?

pip8

“I do – but I sleep wherever I want.”

28] If so, do you sleep in your bed, or their bed, or the couch or all three and more?

pip12

“Family Dad worked in Hong Kong for a while. I slept by the front door until he rejoined my pack.”

29] How much alone time or ‘just you’ time do you have?

“If Family Dad and Mum are doing something called “work”, a lovely friend walks me with my pal Barney.”

30] Do your 2 leggeds make you dress up?

“I REFUSE to dress up”

32] Do you have a friendly vet?

“Family Uncle is a fantastic medical vet. He is also a leading homeopathic vet. I am very lucky My local medical vet is lovely and very professional, too!”

33] What would be your perfect day?

In spite of everything … the manipulations and the training you must subject them to  – are they happy  that you are there to mentor for them?

“Family, walks, water, mud and chasing sticks. Pawfect!

Finally, in your own words tell us something about both you and your 2 leggeds that the questions haven’t touched on or asked about – something unique …

pip7

“I decided to tweet for one year, starting on the first day of the #YearOfTheDog. I expect people will be fed up with me by the next Chinese New Year, so will probably stop then. I have made many ‘virtual’ Twitter friends and love to hear about their adventures, challenges, heartaches and successes. As I’m named after a Dickens character, I thought my tweets would be great literature. Sadly, they turned out to be mere doggerel. It would make my doggie day if one of my Twitter chums has enjoyed any of my tweets.

Thank you. It’s now time for a snooze…”

Scrappy’s Thanks

My special thanks to Pip and his pack for pawticipating in our K9 questionnaire – and sharing a little of life of what it’s like to be a Golden Retriever in charge of the household. If it’s any consolation Pip my Dad says he thinks l am on a quest to do my little jobbies in ‘every’ single spot in our village. I walk him under, over, into, up everywhere, mm, maybe that is why he has a bad back now? Oh well his job is to follow my lead literally!

Way to go to Pip, Power to the Bark!

If you would like to keep up with Pip then do make sure to follow his account in Twitter – here  @PipTheDog5

Hope you enjoyed reading … Tootle Pip from Doodlepip!

“If you are interested in pawticipaing please email me at doodlepip03@gmail.com and l will email you back with the questionnaire. I post your finished interview here and in Facebook and Twitter.

Also l have now introduced a new series called K9 Product Review Interviews in case some of you might like to tell us about something that you do – be this crafty hobbys or past times and activities or even a business for we K9rs and Feline Katz.

Dad and l are currently in discussions about vocalising these interviews in the future, so that is something l am quite keen to explore further.

Now l know that many of you must have K9’s equally as much as Feline Katz [5] – isn’t it time you let them have their say and take our number to 44!

Is 44 You?

Looking pawards to hearing from many, many more!
