1] Blog Name

“Meditations in Motion.”

20180609_093953(0)

2] What is your blog’s specific genre?

“It’s a combination of running/inspirational/faith blog.”

3] How old is your Blog?

“My blog is 6 months old.”

4] Why did you feel the need to start an actual blog?

“I don’t think I realized this at the time, but I felt the need to do something creative. I was a teacher for over 30 years, and recently retired. Teaching is actually a very creative profession, and I missed the opportunity to be creative.”

5] What age were you when you first started to write?

“I have written for all of my adult life.”

6] Was it a natural process or did something or someone inspire you to put your first thoughts to paper?

“It was a natural process.”

7] Would you say that your creativity flows easily or do you need to be motivated by an event or a moment in your life to trigger it?

“My creativity flows easily. I have a list of topics I would like to write about that is over 3 pages long. I will never have the time to write about all of the topics I think about.”

8] How frequent or prolific are you with your writing and blogging?

“I usually post 2 or 3 times per week. I guess I really ought to have a schedule!”

9] Is it just WordPress that your writing is displayed or other platforms as well?

“Just WordPress.”

10] Do you use social media to advertise and market your blog? If so which ones and how effective is it/are they?

“I use Facebook and Twitter, but I am very haphazard about posting. They are somewhat effective. I do get a few views from each of those platforms each time I post.”

11] Writers block we all get it at one point or another – if you do suffer from it, how do you tackle the problem?

“I have not suffered from writer’s block yet. (Knock on wood!)”

12] Which is your preferred writing/creative style?

“My writing style (if it can be described as a style) is very informal. I write as if I am having a conversation with my reader.”

13] What is the best thing about blogging in your eyes?

“The best thing about blogging is the unexpected network of relationships with other bloggers that have developed since I first began blogging. I pictured blogging as a lonely experience – just me and my laptop. I have met an amazing number of creative, generous and insightful people through blogging.”

14] What prompts you to write about a topic on the day that you post?

“I am often inspired by thoughts I have when I run long distances. I usually develop the skeleton of a post as I am running. When I get home, I jot a few words down on paper or on my GoogelDocs list, then flesh out my ideas as I have time. Sometimes these thoughts are generated by something I have read or heard on the radio.”

15] What advice would you award new bloggers to help and encourage them promote their blog and engage with their audience?

“Build a network of other bloggers whom you regularly read. Comment on and like other bloggers’ posts. Be generous and kind.”

16] Do you have an overall blogging strategy or simply write because you enjoy writing?

“Anyone who reads my blog knows that I have no strategy at all! I write because I love writing.”

17] Do you feel it is important to have an engaging audience to the content that you write?

“I struggle with this due to the nature of my blog. Some of my posts are strictly about running – race reports, trail running adventures, etc. Those posts are definitely tailored for the running blogs audience. Most of my posts are not strictly about running, though. I hope that I can engage a wider audience than just runners.”

18] If no one ever commented on your blog would this concern you, and if so how would you rectify the situation?

“This would definitely concern me. I love the give and take associated with blogging. If this was the situation, I would probably increase the number of comments I make on others’ posts.”

19] How long from start to finish would/can your content take you to complete?

“A typical blog post usually takes about 3 – 4 hours, but I can do some types of posts (race reviews, quote challenges, etc.) in a much shorter amount of time.”

20] Which do you think are your best 3 posts to date? Please link below so that our readers can see your style and take a step into your world.

“Ooooh! This is a good question. It was tough to choose, but here are three that I am proud of:

“My very first post “What Are You Grateful For?” https://meditationsinmotion.wordpress.com/2018/01/01/gratitude/

“A post about an object (and a person) very special to me “White Horse Luck and a Special Ring” https://meditationsinmotion.wordpress.com/2018/03/21/white-horse-luck-and-a-special-ring/

“A post where I really got to outline my philosophy “Drink the Wine Eat the Cake” https://meditationsinmotion.wordpress.com/2018/06/14/drink-the-wine-eat-the-cake/

21] Finally, what advice would you offer new writers to the blogging community?

“My advice would be to get involved with the blogging community and to always be true to yourself. Speak with your own voice.”

My thanks to Laurie of Meditations in Motion for taking the time to participate in the Truly Inspired series 2 and explaining the thought process to why she blogs about what she writes about.

If you don’t know of Laurie’s blog then pop in, or to coin a phrase from Laurie ‘ Why not just run over and check it out’.

Laurie like so many others is spot on with her observations concerning blogging, the experience and the community itself found here in WordPress – the secret is to engage with your audience, to comment and to like. But also, when writing to write for you first and foremost, speak with your own voice – don’t hide who you are.
