Ode to the Gardener in Love!

I have come to the conclusion,
That gardening is nothing but confusion,
Best set at with a straight mind,
So as not to slacken, nor get behind
To be a good gardener you must be devout,
So as to recognise the common weed from an exotic sprout,

I am neither good nor bad, l ‘m both,
With me, its whip it out, forget growth!
My employer is the opposite,
Well in reality more of a perfectionist consulate!
Mowed lawns must be in straight lines,
Weeds out, all plants upright including vines,
Patios brushed leaving no speck,
Its all got to be totally correct,
You get the gist,
And l got my daily list

“You don’t look right today mate” he said
“Its nothing boss, got things buzzing in my head”

I have come to the conclusion,
That gardening is nothing but confusion,
Best set at with a straight mind,
So as not to slacken, nor get behind,

It’s a huge bloody estate,
So very easy for a mistake,
Ok the lawns were not right
Straight lines just seem trite,
I staggered and l swayed,
My mind was alight so l played,

“Grief what have you gone and done?” He shouted
“Oooher” is all l pouted
“It’s like crop circles, tell me they are not hearts?”
“No boss, its just the way the grass err parts”
“What’s going on in that head of yours?”
“Nothing boss, it’s just the outdoors”

I have come to the conclusion,
That gardening is nothing but confusion,
Best set at with a straight mind,
So as not to slacken, nor get behind,

Hedge trimming not for the faint hearted,
But with that tool, things are easily parted,
And l is in the best mood, albeit slightly amused,
Which is why l guess the hedges got abused,

“Oh for goodness sake!’ He yelled
“Err, aha yes, well you see” Is all l could expel
“Tell me they are not angels?’
“No boss, they are, are bagels!”
“Are you feeling alright?” He said
“Bit giddy in the my head”

I have come to the conclusion,
That gardening is nothing but confusion,
Best set at with a straight mind,
So as not to slacken, nor get behind,

Weeding is so easy, you would think
Unless of course you are not exactly in sync,
Your heads afloat with angels, hearts, flowers and clouds,
Your mind is elsewhere, with thoughts that overcrowds
Dandelions look prettier than the best placed rose,
And these sadly are the first that you allow to decompose,
When nettles look like blessings,
And the perfect lilies are unnecessary dressings,
Ribwort plantains become quite appealing,
All the other colours in the garden have lost meaning,

“You are so not right, come back later!”
“Yes sorry boss, when my head is straighter!”

I have come to the conclusion,
That gardening is nothing but confusion,
Best set at with a straight mind,
So as not to slacken, nor get behind,

This is what happens when your head is out of whack
When your minds not on track,
Loving you is easy, missing you is harder,
This is why l simply cannot be a gardener!
