Liebster Award – II
In January this year l was nominated by Mercury Twin’s author ‘Smile’ for the Liebster Award. This is my second nomination for this award. First my apologies to Smile for my tardiness in responding to this nomination but l have been busy, and each nomination can take quite a bit of time to prepare and deliver so as to do justice to both the nominators and of course the potential nominees. Secondly, my genuine and sincere thanks for this nomination.
1] What inspires you to write a blog?
Good question, in fact as you know l run a series of my own concerning this very question [In fact have you not thought of completing one yourself?] Truly Inspired
I am passionate about writing, my philosophy is simple the more you write, the more you feel like writing and more you feel like writing the more imaginative and creative your writing mind becomes. Writing exercises and fuels your brain. I don’t know why, l never thought about blogging years ago, but am glad l have it now. I prefer the company of the other creative bloggers here than l do in any of the other ‘social platforms’ we have access to these days and feel many a time that l am in good company rather than simply sitting in the throng of overrated commercialism and generic drama.
I write because l love it, l love the feeling of taking an idea, nurturing it and then allowing it to harvest on the pages.
2. Does your mood affect your writing?
I am lucky with three blogs l can pick and choose through reflection how to write according to the mood of the day. If anything, l have too many ideas and not enough physical time to write in each, every day. My office door is covered in roughly 50 Post It Notes with ideas for posts and l have a lever arch box file with a further 200 post ideas within, so whatever my mood l am covered unless of course l am in the dourest of moods and then, who knows what l may write!! LOL
3. How often do you travel?
As a youngster, l travelled the world a few times with my parents, lived in many exciting locations, and was able to explore many cultures. I continued to freestyle travel till my late twenties. I haven’t travelled anywhere in truth properly in the last twenty years, a couple of locations, but perhaps because l was quite spoiled for lack of a more appropriate word, l no longer am driven with that same passion anymore. One day, l will take to the high seas again.
4. What is photography to you?
Words on film.
5. What do you do when you feel down and troubled?
I write, l think, l create or l game or l go out for walk with the camera and look for motivation and inspiration.
6. When was the recent fulfilling moment in your life?
My question back would be ‘define fulfilling?’ The interpretation of each individual would quite possibly be different, in fact no doubt about it, it would. Currently l have no fulfilling moments in my life.
7. How much do you love your family?
My family and l are relatively dysfunctional and have been for more years than l care to think about. Out of 10, how much do l love my biological family, perhaps 3. How much do l love my own family, as in my partner and my dog? 10.
8. Who is your greatest inspiration in life?
I don’t have any great inspirations in my life or alternatively l create my own inspiration from what resources may be available.
9. What hobby do you like most and why?
I have many interests and currently no specific fixed interests although reading and writing are close to the top, photography and gaming for the downtimes.
10. What does “true friendship” mean to you?
Define true friendship l would ask of the question? I have very few close friends, l have more acquaintances and a few colleagues, but have yet anywhere in my lifetime been able to lower on one hand four fingers and my thumb. As a concept l understand friendship, it is a logical equation, however it is riddled with deception, falsehood, obligation and expectations that in many respects l am not willing to give to the many and will only award it to the few.
In real time life as in flesh and blood within my vicinity l have three friends, one of which is a dog and the other my partner. The third party to this is a chap l have known for a couple of years and he is my morning walking buddy, he is 71 and ex British army and this can lead to some truly interesting conversations.
Online l have a few more friends, and those friendships are easier to define and manage, and if those ‘friends’ read this, they will know l am talking about you.
11. How do you handle different personality’s of people around you?
In truth, l tend to treat a King as a tramp and a tramp as a King, point being made, everyone in my eyes is equal until they do something that defines them not to be. Not derogatory, but honest l have no time whatsoever for drama llamas, or those who are judgemental of others, or those who think they are better than the next person. I give a damn about people who give a damn about themselves, l offer support where l can to those who need that support, or need that listening ear or helping hand.
I am a far cry from the perfect human, no one is perfect, no one is normal, no one is the same everyone is different, each individual has their unique personality and truth be known all l want to do mostly is celebrate their youniqueness.
I like people to be different, to be themselves. be quirky, be filled with foibles and idiosyncrasies – but above everything else, l just like people to be who they are meant to be and be honest with that fact.
