“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is like an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
The Waves of Positivity
We have had a lot of rain, storms and foul weather for the past few weeks here in our little corner of Kent and in short it has been somewhat depressing. My partner suffers from SAD as it is, so to have so much glumness abound only makes it more difficult for her – but as they say there is always a silver lining somewhere – and of course to a SAD sufferer it is the welcomed approach of the lighter months – so each day from the 21st December gets lighter by 2 minutes and that is cheering her up somewhat.
To my knowledge l don’t suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder – but over the last few months have been battling a depression, and trying to remain fixedly positive, which as many here will know is never neither fully or truly easy and poor weather really doesn’t help. So when the sun does come out, it is well received indeed!
Yesterday my partner and l decided to go for an adventure, she with her Nordic walking poles and me with my camera. We needed to get out for some exercise with the rains temporarily absent and try and work on our mindfulness and wellbeing.
Storm Eleanor has been passing over Britain with its 100 miles an hour winds, causing the usual damages and destructions that most storms tend to do with British countryside. We were pretty lucky where we are here , just outside Deal, we have only seen a few trees down, but sadly other places have been very badly hit.
However, the residue of that storm was still lingering in the seas and l decided to capture some of the beautiful power that can only be delivered via the waves of positivity.
“if
the ocean
can calm itself,
so can you.
we
are both
salt water
mixed with
air.”
― Nayyirah Waheed
“The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
— Jacques Yves Cousteau, Oceanographer
“The sea complains upon a thousand shores.”
— Alexander Smith, Poet
“The sea is emotion incarnate. It loves, hates, and weeps. It defies all attempts to capture it with words and rejects all shackles. No matter what you say about it, there is always that which you can’t.”
— Christopher Paolini, Author
“Why do we love the sea? It is because it has some potent power to make us think things we like to think.”
— Robert Henri, Artist
Yesterday was a good day, the weather had relented for a brief while on its enthusiastic assault – briefly – it was back later that afternoon, all through the night and it has literally only stopped its deluge in the last thirty minutes and again we see a short lived sun waking up to the day – the rains are back in a few hours.
We all have to do what we can to exercise our wellbeing, motivation and mindfulness in order to try and stabilise our positive vibes.

Doesn’t the sea always have a way of putting things back in the right perspective? Thank you so much for sharing these quotes, they’re great!!
